To Dollar to deposit $1.63 AGOG check. Got check for $1,500 for Felicia (receipt together with her letter I rcd. yesterday).
Sent 25¢ to T. Preston for the rules for STAR BATTLE; as advertised in THE FLYING BUFFALO'S FAVORITE MAGAZINE.
Call from Fabio Coen. Can't make it tomorrow. Changed it to 12:30 on 8/14. He asked me about "To Tell the Truth" and I gave him Jean Boone's number and what she said the last time we spoke.
To S.P.I. Howie Barasch didn't have anything for me.
To Bob Reiss. We added "to the best of his knowledge" to clause 3. I asked whether he could give me an additional $300. No, he didn't even want to give the $1,500. Signed anyway. He'll call me next week about getting together to look at the mold for THE HARRY LORAYNE MEMORY GAME.
To Felicia. Gave her the $1,500 check. Looked at the 3M royalty statement. The money is all for do- mestic sales. The bulk is for ACQUIRE. EXECUTIVE DECISION made a little over $400. Felicia said that Herb Roth said that we'd make a lot of money from TOTALLY, INTERSECTION, and PUSHOVER thru "Epoch" in Japan. They are a fabulous company. Some of Alan Newman's games are still very much in the running (at M.B. or P.??). The one problem she finds with him is that he is too prolific. He comes up with great gimmiks [sic] but doesn't put the time into making a really good game. He does do his homework and aims for a specific company. Keith Tuggle has been asking about seeing some of the paper and pencil games again. Nothing definite yet. She hears from 3M salesmen (which?) that sales are pick- ing up nicely. She showed me a game by Ralph C. Fisher, Sr. - BUCCANEER'S ISLAND. She only had the rules but basically it was a board game with a track around the edge. Players move by dice throw around this and space landed on tells him how he can move his ship. The center of the board is an ocean, probably divided into squares, with ports in the 4 corners and an island in the center. Object is to be first to sail to the island, change to a gold ship, and sail back to starting port. Other players can land on same space and take over the gold ship. Etc. We both agreed that it has been done. We went into Herb Roth's and he again said how great "Epoch" was. They made a fortune in PACHINKO. Herb had a clipping from the 8/1 POST on wargaming. (Later I called BB and she got it out for me. Mentions of AFRIKA KORPS, STALINGRAD, CHANCELLORSVILLE, PANZER LEADER, ANTIETAM, BORODINA, DON'T GIVE UP THE SHIP, Tom Shaw, DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS, 1914.
