August 1975 - Friday 1
213th day - 152 days to come
----
Rcd. the rules and repro of the boards for DELTA, from W. L. Haas.
With a letter signed by Shepard Bently and Edward Schifman rcd.
a copy of the catalog for a Japanese company - "Epoch". Among
the games I recognized were: RADAR SEARCH GAME, TANK COMMAND,
PERFECTION, CLUE, MONOPOLY, LONG COURS, CORSAIRES, TRIPPPLES,
BARRIER, INTERSECTION, TOTALLY, PUSHOVER (all 3 more attractive
than the U.S. models), SCORE FOUR, TILT, TENSION. All the Aladdin
games are marked "TV."
Rcd. a royalty report and check for $1.63 for AGOG.
Stopped for a moment at G&R and got list prices for LAND GRAB and
FACE OFF - $9.00 each.
To Reiss and took the copy of THE HARRY LORAYNE MEMORY GAME contract.
Read it later and it wasn't great.
To S.P.I. Took another copy of S&T #51 and ran off 12 copies of my col-
umn. Ran off a copy of the PHALANX (Whitman) rules (for
S. K. Howard.) Also ran off the rules for ZODIAC STAR CHESS for S. K.
From Gene and some of the other fellows in the shipping room took the
following: DREADNOUGHT (1 for my collection & 1 duplicate), ELALAMEIN
(duplicate); unboxed copies of CHARIOT, LEGION, YEOMAN, SPARTAN,
VIKING, MECH WAR '77, WORLD WAR II, BULL RUN, FOXBAT & PHANTOM,
SPITFIRE, MUSKET & PIKE, TURNING POINT (:STALINGRAD), KURSK,
PANZER '44.
Spoke to Howie Barasch. No mail of any kind for me. He
spoke to David Zea of "Statis-Pro Games." They would like me to
review some of their sports games. He told them that it was
out of my line - but anytime I want any of their games all I
have to do is contact them.
I asked if a copy of TRIPLANETARY had come thru to Richard Berg.
He didn't remember, but he has his own copy. He thinks it
is an interesting idea, but not worked out too well. Plotting the
vector movements with a grease pencil gets very messy.
Called and then met Earl Perel. Ate lunch at an Indian restaur-
ant and Earl insisted on paying. Showed him the "Epoch" catalog. He
wanted to borrow it to get his friend to translate the address
so that he can write to them. Told him I'd get a repro of the
cover for him - bit then we forgot about it.
When got home discovered a note from Dana to call
Martin Gardner and {Bob Reiss [phone number] - Monday morning.
Too late to call Martin.
