July 1975 - Sunday 20
Ninth Sunday after Pentecost - 201st day - 164 days to come

Played DARN CLEVER with BB, allowing one line by each of us: Played three times and it worked very well, I'll have to send it as a variation to Mr. Rodimach. If they accept the game and use this variation I'll give Phil Laurence a percentage.
In connection with MASTERMIND, I checked to see how close it was to JOTTO. JOTTO doesn't differentiate between a "hit" in the same position and one in a different position. However, in the '69 [1969] diary came across NODDLE which has exactly the same rules, using digits instead of colors.

said that I owe my family more than I owe Felicia. Then he said that he should lecture me when he learns how to handle Wald and Wexler. Made date for next Friday.

continue until one of the options is actually used. Also as part of his turn a player can use a number card to see if it is the correct number - the first number of the combination is first found in this way, then the second and finally the third. After all three numbers are discovered when a player collects 3 corresponding number cards and c he claims the inheritance. He must reach his space by moving around the board (the lawyer and servant can reach it by a backward move that lands them in their space - since they only have 3 and 2 spaces).
There wasn't any incentive to try a combination number so Wald gave another card taken from the board for using one and 2 for the first card a player gets in a search for a number. After the first number is found all cards used by the players are returned to the board, etc.
I found the game messy and uncomfortable and didn't make use of the safe gimmick sufficiently. I suggested that if a player gets one number correct he can continue with the next and then if correct again with the 3rd. Wald thought this was great.
(This is not a complete description of the game - but enough to give a good idea. It needs a lot more work.)
Claude gave me a copy of FEDS 'N HEADS (from Playboy Mag. [magazine] I believe). This is a duplicate for me.
