184th Day - 181 Days to Come

Wrote to George Raiselis with the 57 pre-60 Parker [Parker Brothers] games. Also told him about 90 YEARS OF FUN.

Wrote to Steve Peck asking price of WOODEN SHIPS & IRON MEN. Mentioned Howie Barasch, S&T [Strategy and Tactics], Walter Luc Haas, and EUROPA.

Wrote to Walter Luc Haas. Mentioned BLUE & GRAY, MODERN BATTLES, WORLD WAR III, WOODEN SHIPS & IRON MEN, CONTIGO; GAMAGES CHRISTMAS BAZAAR 1913, BATTLE, L'ATTAQUE; EUROPA; BEYOND TIC-TAC-TOE, AGOG; SPIELBRETT; THOUGHTWAVE; PLAYBOSS; Heinerzech; BUMM.
Sent a package with BLUE & GRAY, MODERN BATTLES (my only copies), and WORLD WAR III (a duplicate). ($2.45 plus 35¢ insurance. Packages to Switzerland, and to England, cost $1.55 for the first 2 pounds and .45¢ for each pound or fraction.)

Call from Dave Greenwald. In his efforts to do something with TREFFLES, he has come across John Stephenson of Games Gallery and Alice McElhone. I told him what I knew about them. Stephenson may place it for a 35% agent's fee. I asked about "Musical Chairs" (see 6/25). It is in a limbo-and he is waiting to hear from them.

Call from Claude. Nothing on games.

Bought a copy of the 7/14 issue of THE VILLAGE VOICE for the article on THE GAMES PRESERVE. (Filed in M.G. folder.)

Using 8"x5" index cards - unlined pink and unlined blue - made two "rack substitutes" for DARN CLEVER.
Thought of an idea for a multiple game. One sets up the 4 symbols and the others try to be the first to discover them. The first player turns a card and asks a question on the location(s). He gets a secret yes or no answer. Each player in turn ge turns a card and gets a secret answer. Then in turn each player asks a question and gets an answer they all hear.
Made a new board - under 7 1/2" square - for FREE FOR ALL and a set of pieces.
Played in the evening with BB. O.K. with the smaller field.
