23 MONDAY - JUNE 1975
174TH DAY - 191 DAYS TO COME
TIME magazine had an article on PETROPOLIS.
In Job Lot saw 21 LETTERS for $1.25. Didn't buy it.
On Chambers St. for 20 copies of DARN CLEVER info sheet at 5¢ ea.
To S.P.I. Howie Barasch and Richard Berg there and got the following from them:
THE GAME OF YOUR FUTURE. The inventor Alex Johannesen, wanted a letter on the chances of his game being published in the U.S. and I said I would write to him. (His card is mounted on inside of box.) When I looked at it at home I saw that it is not really a war game at all. (Also discovered that a "hexa-1" was missing.)
CONFRONTATION. Returned to me by Richard. He thought it would be more like the Gamescience CONFRONTATION, and isn't interested in this one.
STAR RAIDER. Richard didn't want to handle this, so I got it.
MERCENARY. I mentioned this because I saw a rave for it in SIGNAL this morning. Howie said he had an extra set and gave it to me.
Howie mentioned that he'd like to have a copy of MACARTHUR around the office and I said I'd bring one, and PATTON too.
Howie mentioned that there is a new set of rules for KINGMAKER. Borrowed them from Jim Dunnigan and ran off repros.
In shipping room Gene gave me 3 copies of MOVES #21. It contains the following: "Designer's Notes" on OIL WAR, ISLAND WAR Quad, MODERN BATTLES Quad, SORCERER, PUNIC WARS, BATTLE OF AMERICA, BLUE & GRAY II, DIXIE, WEST WALL Quad, WAR IN THE WEST, STAR SOLDIER, THIRTY YEARS WAR Quad, BATTLES IN NORTH AFRICA Quad. Articles and new scenarios for STARFORCE, also Errata. "Footnotes" on OPERATION OLYMPIC, FRIGATE, WORLD WAR II, STARFORCE, GLOBAL WAR, WOLFPACK. Article on FREDERICK THE GREAT. "FO" reviews of NARVIK and CORAL SEA (both by Game Designers' Workshop). "Playback Reader Reviews" of TANK!, STARFORCE, OPERATION OLYMPIC, WINTER WAR, NAPOLEON'S LAST CAMPAIGNS (Rand).
Took copies of S&T #44 and #50. Ran off 6 copies of my Briefings in each/
Took duplicate copies of GLOBAL WAR and KOREA.
Dave Isby gave me a German catalog - from a Frankfurt store. Mainly hobbies but the following games included: VERHEXT, FEUDAL, BREAKTHRU, KALAHA, DAS BORSENSPIEL, CASTELLO, HALMA, KARREE, FESTUNG, SOLITAR, SCRABBLE, BANDA, GO, IMURI, TRIMULA, TRIC-TRAC, MALEFIZ.
To Felicia's office. Not in.
To Bob Gellman. He was busy and asked me to call tomorrow. I asked him to call me, and he said that I shouldn't be cheap, after I said I'd call if he ran off a repro for me (of the receipt from the Fed. Reserve).
