JUNE 1975 - WEDNESDAY 18
169TH DAY - 196 DAYS TO COME
Started a letter to A.R. Mills.
Finished the model for SPANS. The first player [drawing of field]
placed a peg anywhere on the 12 x 12 field. the
next places a peg 5 units away, either straight or
on a 4-3 angle. Players in tu then he places a
spanning pieces. The players in turn keep spanning
from either end of the "viaduct." The last to
place a span wins, or loses if "misere" is played.
When a diagonal span is placed it cannot cover a peg in any of
the six holes shown. Conversely, it cannot a peg cannot be placed in
any of these holes.
Played with BB and it worked fine.
Call from Claude. At an old book store he saw several books on games. One on WHIST sounded moderately interesting and I asked him to get it for me for $1.50.
Call from Earl. He has been trying to get in touch with Jules Cooper to show him DON'T BLOW A FUSE, but he is always busy. I'll bring him Schaper's address tomorrow, but I told him I didn't know the one to contact.
Sent a copy of the AGOG appendix to Peter Carr (see 4/26) - air mail printed matter - $1.05.
