22THURSDAY - MAY 1975
142ND DAY - 223 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. an invoice from S&R for gratis copies of ESCAPE FROM THE CASBAH, DUPLICATE CROSSWORD GAME, and SCORING ANAGRAMS.
Rcd. the HEISSE KARTEN cards with a note from Fay Hartog that Alex Randolph had left them from me.
Working on a rough model for DARN CLEVER.
POST had an article on a snob game PETROPOLIS. In the article they state that MONOPOLY has sold 800,000,000 sets.
Saw the movie "Young Frankenstein."
(cont. from 5/21) [5/21]
I asked and was told that Bob Gellman never delivered the games.
- The Flaggs. Said hello. He said that he hoped to have SEN-TENS to me by June.
- Four Generations. Small exhibit of games. Nothing new.
- Heinz House. Took copies for CHEZ and STOCK-POKER. Told him that I had looked at the latter and there were things that weren't clear at all. He said that they will be [illegible strikeout] redoing the rules. I said I'd wait for these before reviewing STOCK-POKER. He asked me to send me copies of the reviews. (On the price sheet he gave me to get the games out he wrote his name - Arlen Baumhoefner. Filed in '75 Misc.)
Told him that the game he calls SURROUND is definitely based on SEEGA, not SENAT. He thanked me.
- Intellect. Steve Brodie gave me a review copy of THOUGHTWAVE. Met and took a card from David Drakes - from England. Dave Greenwald was there (with a Buer badge). We said we'll get in touch with each other.
- E.S. Lowe. While passing by met Ron Weingartner. Told him I had some new ideas for FOUR-ARMED BANDIT. Hopefully we'll get together next week. I mentioned that I had run into Dick Harris and that he had told me to write to him for review copies of games. Ron said to write to him for E.S. Lowe games - at the same address as on Dick's card.
Rcd. a U.P.S. package from S&R with SCORING ANAGRAMS - a "sample" with no rules, also 182 instead of 180 tiles, a "Q" is cracked; DUPLICATE CROSSWORD GAME, ESCAPE FROM THE CASBAH.
Got an idea for a simple deduction game - DARN CLEVER.
Called Claude and spoke to Anne. Postponed our date to go to Princeton until next Friday. Claude visiting with Earl Perel this evening. In afternoon he applied for the TV program "Blankety Blank." He didn't get one question right.
