MAY 1975 - MONDAY 19
VICTORIA/QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY (CANADA) - 139TH DAY - 226 DAYS TO COME
To Stationary Show.
- The Flaggs. Said hello to John Flagg who has started his own company. Told John that Wibel had never sent me a copy of SYNTACTICS. He gave me one. (I already have one that I got through other sources.) Took rules for two other games - HAPPY HEADLINES and SEN-TENS - and he'll send me review copies. Exchanged cards.
Took a catalog sheets. There is an expensive gambling game called 6-UP COLOR DICE. Didn't get all the details, but basically there are 6 dice with faces of 4 colors; red has most, then blue, then yellow, and white has least. Have 5 throws to get 6 of a color, and payoff depends on the color and the number of throws. Didn't ask for review copy.
- E.S. Lowe. Spoke to a salesman there and asked about Ron Weingartner. Still in Springfield. He gave me a card with Ron's number and suggested that I call. Did ($1.50) and made date to show him FOUR-ARMED BANDIT tomorrow at 200 Fifth Ave - 10:30 to 11:00.
- Intellect Games. Steve Brodie told me to pick up a copy of THOUGHTWAVE Weds. afternoon. Told him that I get more inquiries on Intellect Games than any other companies. Steve said I made his day. At Pressroom took a set of mimeod sheets on "Intellect Games."
- Waddington's. There were two new games, LAND GRAB and FACE OFF. the gal said that I can get copies from their reps - G&R. She said that Alfons Rubbens would be back shortly and I said that I'd come to see him.
- S&R. Their name on a booth, but otherwise empty.
- Gamut of Games. Said hello to Phil Orbanes.
- E.S. Lowe. Went back to look at the games and take a catalog. Looked at PLAYOFF, LUCKY NUMBERS, NEVADA 15, BIG NUMBERS, and DECEPTION (place markers on 5 cards and then choose - from memory - 3 to go with 2 originally dealt to make a 5-card POKER hand). See catalog for as much as I learned about these.
- Waddington's. Said hello to Alfons Rubbens who had to catch a plane back to Canada.
Earl Doherty was there and we talked after Alfons left. Earl id
connected with a big (3 floors) game store in Toronto.

Earl is the inventor of LAND GRAB and FACE OFF, plus his other games. But he makes his living from "Mr. Gameways." I mentioned my games with Aladdin and he asked who to contact about games for his store, and whether they need a Canadian rep. We exchanged cards for me to write, but then we decided on his calling me tonight after 9 (which he didn't).
The Canadian laws on bilingual boxes have changed. If the insides require a knowledge of English, the box can be just in English. Except in Quebec where everything must be bilingual. I asked Earl if his store has any offbeat games. He said that outside of "House of Games" there is of little interest in Canada. Gamma 2 has put out TEAM (which he is said is something
