16 FRIDAY - MAY 1975
FIRST DAY OF SHEBUOTH - 136TH DAY - 229 DAYS TO COME

On trip to L.I. with Claude and Anne. At garage sales in Huntington bought an alphabet template for 5¢.

In an antique place Claude saw a Parker game from 1902 (I believe) called BLOCK. The cards had letters (A, B, C, D I believe) with each numbered sequence from 1 up. Also some "Block" cards. Play didn't seem to interesting and price was about $9. (Later I checked and found that I had seen it at the Parker archives. I just stated that it was a "Stops" game.)

Claude gave me the following: Jan. '75 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN (which he picked up in a 2nd hand store) and May '75.

A book FOLLOWING THE WHITE-AND-RED TRAIL which Claude picked up at a Polish exhibition at the Science Museum in Flushing. It contains different amusements, including a board Game GAME based on BITWA CZOKOW from the book MU-TORERE, DO-GUTI I INNE.

A book CARTES A JOUER, which he bought for me in Canada. Seems to be a collection of simpler games and variants. Some previously unpublished. FULL HOUSE, 100 logic puzzles based on men playing POKER and women playing BRIDGE.

A book SPITE & MALICE, which I already have.

A pastime called WHAT DO YOU SEE? A COCKTAIL GAME, using cocktail napkins with "ink blots."

Claude gave BB an attractive set of Russian cards he bought in Canada. She gave them to me.

At the garage sale also bought a copy of THE MONEY GAME (by Adam Smith for 25¢/3. (Not a true game book but I'll put it with the peripheral books.)

Exchanged cards and he will send me review copies of THE SEX CONNECTION and 221B BAKER ST.

He said that he'd like to look at my games (after I said that I was also an inventor) and I told him about THE WINNING TICKET. He's trying to set up a date with Felicia this week.

- Hansen. Only thing new was ZODIAK FORTUNE which seemed to be a simple path game.

- Elton. Looked at the rules of BLOCK-OFF. Players in turn place 3 [drawing of triangle] of their color. Until later in the game players may not place both
