APRIL 1975 - TUESDAY 29
119TH DAY - 246 DAYS TO COME
Deposited the WASHINGTON check in Dollar.
Call from Felicia. Barry Shapiro called and, since Fri this
Friday is the only day he is free, Felicia will come in. She
thinks that POP-SHAPE-AND SHATTER is more fun played by 3
than 2 and I agreed. I'll be there at 1:30.
Wrote to David Watts. Enclosed my review of RAILWAYS RIVALS. Mentioned Don Miller, S&T, THE PENINSULAR WAR, OIL DISTRIBUTORS BRITISH ISLES, MARCHING TO RICHMOND, G&P.
Finished the letter to Walter Luc Haas. Mentioned EUROPA, SPIELBRETT, S&T, MOVES, WOODEN SHIPS AND IRON MEN, WORLD WAR III.
BB told me of a talk she had with Annette Laurence yesterday. The WALL STREET JOURNAL had an article on ANTI-MONOPOLY which mentioned THE LANDLORD'S GAME. (She wondered if I had something to do with it.)
Call from Richard Berg. Had a pleasant discussion about our
"Briefings" - He said the feedback ratings have been going up. We'll
both review whatever we feel like. He has been getting a flood of
games sent in. When I said that I'd like to see the rules he said
he'd run off xeroxes for me. I suggested visiting each other's
collections and he'd like to do that - sometime. Things like
ORGANIZED CRIME (he saw it at Brentano's) interest him. He
mentioned that he has a copy of DYNASTY and he's willing to loan it
to me. His telephone number: [drawn bracket] Richard Berg
[drawn bracket] 427-3387
(call after 4 P.M.)
Call from Claude. Nothing specifically about games. Wald has a job doing telephone selling of detergents, etc.
(cont. from 4/30) [4/30]
Joseph Boyer, V.R. Parton, J.H. Van de Walle. In looking for the TOGO patent I came across MILITARY CHESS by H. Maxim - patent #1,030,521 (didn't mention it).
At a thrift shop BB saw a copy of ACQUIRE for $2.50 and called to ask whether to buy it. Told her yes. She was with Annette Laurence, who said she was sorry she didn't buy it.
At home we decided to give it to them.
I checked and all the parts were there. The rules were old, without the 2-hand version. I switched boxes with the set I used at the xerox exhibit.
