APRIL 1975 - THURSDAY 17
107th DAY - 258 DAYS TO COME
BB typed my S&T column.
The BEYOND TIC-TAC-TOE! galleys came. Called Fay and then spoke to Jane Feder. I'll try to go over them tomorrow morning and she'll call me at 3 PM.
I asked Fay if my letter concerning revision of rights to
AGOG was rcd. Yes; the red tape will take at least 2 mont months.
I asked, and she said that Ballentine Books had said that
AGOG was not for them.
Rcd. letter from David Watts. Asked about my being his agent for RAILWAY RIVALS in U.S. Mentions review of RAILWAY RIVALS in G&P. He sold 5 AGOG. He'll send me MARCHING TO RICHMOND.
At Strand Book Store bought THE COMPLETE ILLUSTRATED BOOK OF CARD GAMES by George F. Hervey - mainly because of BRINT and QUINTO. Found them at home in Hervey's A HANDBOOK OF CARD GAMES. Some of the solitaires in the new book look interesting. ($5.00.)
To S.P.I. Gave my column to Redmund. He wants the next one in 8 weeks, or a little less. He gave me measured sheets for future typing of my column.
We discussed whether I should cover his STARFORCE: ALPHA CENTAURI in my column. We decided on not doing it.
Spoke to Jim Dunnigan. The first quarter of '75 is their best year for sales yet. The new $4.00 games give a much better profit margin than the boxed games.
Howie Barasch gave me a copy of ORGANIZED CRIME, with a cover letter. Took copies of MOVES #19. "Games in Progress" mentions SIXTH FLEET, GLOBAL WAR, CHARIOT, SPARTAN, LEGION, VIKING, YEOMAN, FREDERICK THE GREAT, PANZER '44, MECH WAR, SHILOH, CHICKAMAUGA, CEMETERY HILL, ANTIETAM (in the 1st four months of '74); BATTLE OF THE CHINESE FARM, GOLAN HEIGHTS, MUKDEN, WURZBURG CAMPAIGN, DREADNAUGHT, WAGRAM, BATTLE FOR GERMANY, LIEPZIG, JENA-AUERSTADT, MARENGO, FAST CARRIERS, WWI, SORCERER, ISLAND WAR. Mention of CONFLICT magazine; BAR-LEV, DRANG NACH OSTEN, YALU, CRIMEA, SSN, EN GARDE; STARSHIP TROOPER. Article on LA GRANDE ARMEE by Richard Berg. Short discussion of SPI's '74 games: EAST IS RED, WAR IN THE EAST, AMERICAN CIVIL WAR, SEELOWE, TANK!, FRIGATE, OPERATION OLYMPIC, PATROL!, COMBINED ARMS, STARFORCE, WOLFPACK. Footnotes has rule changes (or additions) for SOLOMON'S CAMPAIGN, PATROL!, [ILLEGIBLE STRIKEOUT] COMBINED ARMS, NATO, SNIPER!, WAR IN THE EAST, TANK. Article on A.H.
