APRIL 1975 - MONDAY 7
97TH DAY - 268 DAYS TO COME
At Boston Road got repros of TOGETHERNESS rules and the one page of THE WINNING TICKET. Colored the diagrams in the former.
Picked up Felicia at her office at noon. To Edu-Cards in Commack, stopping at Howard Johnson for lunch, since our date was at 2. Put the new board, page from rules, and labels for the box - to the LOTTERY set that Felicia brought, changing it to THE WINNING TICKET.
At Edu-cards we were take care of by Ike Chodak, a V.P. His assistant, Jeff Conner (I believe), also there most of time. (He will be leaving to join "Marvin Glass Associates.") Shelly Lieberman dropped in to say hello.
Showed the following:
- SHAPE & SHATTER. Played 4-hand and Felicia won. They didn't care for the "block-buster" causing collapse of entire hand. Didn't keep it.
- TOGETHERNESS. Played 3-hand without Felicia. They liked the play and the name. Kept it for consideration.
- FOREIGN INTRIGUE. Don't want to compete with CLUE and SLEUTH.
- TRAVELINE. Didn't care for it - "Just another BINGO."
- THE WINNING TICKET. Liked the general idea, but it would be more topical if more states had lotteries. Kept it for consideration.
- OVER 'N OVER. Played this with Chodak. He said that he liked the
general idea but doesn't like a game that goes on and on. I
finally beat him - altho he may have deliberately played poorly.
Kept it for consideration.
[illegible strikeout]
- PAIR OFF. Played with Chodak and he didn't like it.
- INVASION. Didn't want to look at a war game.
- TRAVEL AGENT by Alan Newman. Didn't care for it.
- DINOSAURS by Alan. This is played on an 8x8 or maybe 7x7 board. Each player has a set of different dinosaurs, enough to fill up one row of the board. There is a deck of cards, each one representing a different type of dinosaur and having a number. Player have a hand of cards and in each turn play one. The pictured dinosaur is moved the number of spaces of the number on the card, and in the direction - including diagonally - that the dinosaur is facing. At the end of the move, the player can change the direction if he wishes.
If a move permits a player dinosaur to land directly on an opponent's there is a fight. The attacker throws one of two dice. If attacking from the front he throws a die with two red faces; if from the back one with 1 red face. (Not sure where the dividing line is.) If a green face is thrown, the attacking dinosaur is eliminated. Once a player has lost a dinosaur, he can use a card of that dinosaur to move any other dinosaur - but only one space. Also if he attacks with this dinosaur, he must throw both
