APRIL 1975 - SATURDAY 5
95TH DAY - 270 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Djoli Kansil with a repro of an 1963 letter he rcd. from Charles Darrow.
At some bazaars with BB, Dana, and Edith. Picked up another 25 strips of photo holders for 5¢ each. (See 3/23.) Bought two boxes, each with eight figures in graduated sizes, and each box a different color - 50¢ each. Bought a copy of "Intellectual Digest" - Feb. '72 - 10¢.
Visit from the Horn's. BB suggested a game of DOMINOS and I countered with THE DOMINO BEAD GAME. Played twice and they liked it moderately.

At her office Felicia decided, and I agreed, that I should take back the following: HEX-MATCH, EVEN WORSE (which, incidentally, Ike wasn't interested in looking at). She kept TRAVELINE, SHAPE & SHATTER (she remembered when she played today how much fun they are), and FOREIGN INTRIGUE (altho she doesn't know where to show it). She showed me THE STOCK EXCHANGE GAME by Alan Newman, together with some other people who did very professional artwork. I looked at it very briefly, but it seemed very ordinary. I said that Alan didn't do his homework this time, but Felicia said that it was done for a specific company that wanted such a game. I didn't ask and she didn't give me any details.
During the day my new book came up and I told her the name - BEYOND TIC-TAC-TOE!, also the details, she said that it sounded good, and that maybe books should be my field.
Rcd. a letter from Warner Kopp, president of Scott USA Co., saying that a KEEP QUIET game was enclosed. It wasn't.
Rcd. a letter from England with a copy of a newsletter called OWL AND WEASEL (#2, March '75). Also a flyer from GAMES WORKSHOP, signed by Ian Livingstone, who used to be connected with ALBION.
In the newsletter: Variation of FORMULA ONE called STOCK CAR RACING. Rules for COWS AND BULLS. Mention of the end of ALBION. Review of ALEXANDER THE GREAT (A.H.) [Avalon Hill]. Letter from Percy Kenyon suggesting his doing a series on MAH JONG.
Discussion of the Toy Fair at Brighton: Waddington's - HOPPIT similar to HALMA; KGB (1 & 2); TREASURY OF WORD GAMES. Invicta - MASTERMIND DELUXE; ZONE X; PRESS UPS. Parker Brother - nothing worth mentioning. Intellect - THOUGHTWAVE. Condor - OVERLORD; QUEEN BEE; and 6 others. Philmar - a strategy game he couldn't remember (probably EPAMINONDAS); CARUMS. A number of small ads for "Fringe Games": THE PENNINE WAR;
