MARCH 1975 - THURSDAY 20
79TH DAY - 286 DAYS TO COME
Got ideas for the EMPIRE and SNIGGLE versions of SLY 6. Playing with myself and a little with BB.
Called Phil Orbanes and we postponed our date till 3/24.
Rcd. the corrected wording of the INTERSECTION "Special Document," with a note from Ed Schifman.
Rcd. a very pleasant letter from John Gollon, who is the author of CHESS VARIATIONS (which I bought in '68). He got my address from Philip Cohen.
A correspondent of his, J.H. van de Walle, in the Netherlands has [illegible strikeout] heard of AGOG and me and wants my address.
In writing his book Gollon largely got his info from A HISTORY OF CHESS by Murray.
Mentions 2 games that are to be published in Europe: ARABESK - he'll send me info once he clarifies some points; BANZAI - sent info. He is working on a book of CHESS and CHESS like games, and is trying to track down some that were commercially put out.
He offers to send me xeroxes of SCHADA which will be republished in the Netherlands. He also offers to send some historic material on STRATEGO which he and Van de Walle have uncovered.
He mentions CAMELOT and CHIVALRY.
He is trying to track down ZONAL CHESS (see '70) and TRI-KING (which I have). mentions that Maura's MINISTER CHESS or MODERN CHESS is available in the Netherlands and he hopes to get a set. Mentions Glinski's HEXAGONAL CHESS and also CROWN CHESS.
Mentions that Bob Abbott is having a strategy game published in England (EPAMINONDAS) and that Alex Randolph introduced MIMIKRI.
He is trying to track down GAMBIT and CHESS-O-RAMA.
He asks me specifically about the following: "Military Chess Game" by Conte de Firmis Peries; Frederick S. Copley's CHESICA, Francois Gilot's CRIMEAN WAR CHESS; and games by Hellwig and de Reisswitz. Also a multi-level wargame CHESS played in South America in the 1930s.
Also a question on L'ATTAQUE, in connection with AVIATION, DOVER PATROL, and TRI-TACTICS.
Rcd. the rules for EON with a note from Phil Fry. (see 3/7.)
Rcd. call from Michael Forella (246-5374). Phil Orbanes gave him my number. He has a variation of TIC-TAC-TOE that has been in his family for many years and is interested in showing it to my agent. Told him that at present she wouldn't look at such a game. Took his number in case there is a change/
Doing some catch up on game diary.
