7 FRIDAY - MARCH 1975
66TH DAY - 299 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. still another invoice - in duplicate - covering the 6 games of PUSHOVER from Aladdin.
Call from Betty Anne Grund (688-7919). She got my number from Phil Orbanes - and got his from Anthony Wainright, who said she was a partner at "Gamut of Games" (Phil said he was a stockholder from out of town).
She is a GAME inventor and would like to show me some of her games, with an idea of her getting them marketed. Told her that I was very busy this month. She'll call me early next month and maybe we'll get together at "Gamut of Games."
Working on the rules illustrations for THE ART OF GAMES.
Sent 3 letters to advertisers in WARGAMER'S INFORMATION (see 2/19) and enclosed stamped envelopes in each: to Rich Glaser for SPACESHIP STRATEGY (SSS) and TRI-PLANETARY CONFLICT (with 25¢); to Phil Fry for EON (free); to Bill Williams for BLACK THURSDAYS and SHORTAGE (with 15¢).
At the Horn's played 4-hand INTERSECTION. At home played
2-hand with BB. In each case it played well with the
36 instead of 25 tiles. except There was a new emphasis,
however. Now getting as many as possible of the tiles
with a 9 or 10 is most important.
Later thinking of bringing the small number tiles - 4 or 6 - back into the game by doubling the value if the opponent has only one of that color and tripling it if he has none.
During the four games rounds I played with BB, all the tiles
were taken each time. (At first I felt that this
would always happen because of the even number of
tiles in a row. Later discovered that that wasn't so, but
it does seem to happen more frequently than with 25 tiles.)
(cont. from 3/8) [3/8]
pencil and paper.
Call from Claude. At some kind of bazaar he bought two copies of LUCKYCHESS (for 25¢ each I believe) and will give me one.
Brought PUSHOVER as a house gift for the Karlin's. Someone there mentioned hearing a game DOUBLE DUMMY advertised on WQXR. Later I heard the advertisement. It costs $9.95, from "Double Dummy" - WQXR, N.Y. 10036.
