FEBRUARY 1975 - FRIDAY 28
59TH DAY - 306 DAYS TO COME
Call from Felicia. her telephone out because of fire in telephone bldg. and gave BB a # to reach her. She asked if Eric Naiburg had been trying to call her. Not that I know of.
Rc.d two copies of "Outlook '75: Aladdin Games."
Did final drawing for MIRO tear out.
Date with BB, Anne, and Claude. At Marboro on 42nd St. bought CHESSMEN - for $1.19.
Claude has subscription to SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. Bought the Feb. '75 issue from him for 50¢.
Played SPRINGER with BB. There didn't seem to be any sure win.
At Marboro saw STEVEN CANEY'S TOY BOOK. Mostly standard
things to make at home but two games were a little different.
SUBSTITUTION (which probably is a simplification of my
BAZAAR. A set of cards is made with about 15 [squares] and
15 [circles]. Another set has equations such as [square = circle circle], [square circle = circle circle circle].
[square square = circle square circle], etc. (only suggestions are given - not a definite
set of cards). About half of the first deck is dealt out
in a row and then some (say 3) of the other deck
are turned face up. The object is to make trades using removing
cards in the row next to each other in the row and replacing
them with the other side of the equation used. Object is to
get down to as few cards as possible. It can also be
played starting with one card (if an equation has that card
on one side) and working up to some set number.
NUMBER SQUARE. A quadrille has numbers in each square (probably only up to about 5) players start in the center and move in a straight line as many spaces as the number they are on at the start of the move. Object is to get out of the "square." (Rough idea.)
