FEBRUARY 1975 - FRIDAY 14
ST. VALENTINE'S DAY - 45TH DAY - 320 DAYS TO COME
To Felicia's. Ed Schifman there. Took card with new number. Felicia showed him QUICKSAND. He took rules to reproduce & return.
I told him about TAKE-A-WORD and he was interested. I'll send him
the rules. // Took 6 copies of the Aladdin "Idea Submission Record."
He gave me a copy of BARRIER. They have added will be adding a
rule concerning an "Indirect Win" where a player with more pcs.
wins even if he can't actually eliminate the opponent.
He also gave me a copy of PUSHOVER. He said there were some
errors in the rules that have been corrected. The buyers have been
giving good comments on PUSHOVER because it is so easy to learn explain.
They have decided not to do TV ads on PUSHOVER and BALI this year. I asked, and he said that TAKEOVER is still being costed.
He looked at TRAVEL AGENT and took the rules to reproduce.
We played part of a game of PROFIT and he liked it. I'll have it ready by the middle of March.
He was not interested in AUTO MAGNATE and ESCAPE - which now has a prisoner of war motif.
All of their games, except BALI, have already been translated into Spanish and French.
He has come up with the idea of retranslating the final English rules from the Spanish. He claims that it makes for a more concise set of rules.
All of the games that will be considered for '76 will be shown
to a panel of big shots during May. They will be shown without
any name att of the inventor attached.
Ed gave Felicia an advertising folder "Outlook 75 - Aladdin Games" which lists the games by various categories. He'll send me one.
After Ed left Felicia mentioned that John Flagg wants Herb Roth to handle his SYNTACTICS. (Apparently he has broken with Gameophiles.)
Felicia heard that Enio Racinelli has a new company - "Gammon Games" and that he'll be at the Fair. We'll both look for him. Felicia sent down for lunch.
To M.B. [Milton Bradley] to see who I should deal with in place of Terry Seymour. Was told George Merritt and that he'd probably be in Monday.
Got copies of TOYS TRADE NEWS (Feb. 12 and 14). Nothing new to me in first. Second had article on INFLATION (Inflation Inc., 7210 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, San Diego, Cal. 92111). It will be shown in room 1001, 1107 Broadway.
To Fabio Coen. Went over the entire manuscript and made some changes. We added some lines to the ARP illustration. Fabio wants me to do a VASARELY Illustration just so that each game will have at least one. We called Janet Townsend in and, in answer to my question I'll have to do each illustration, showing colored lines in black, but not the coloring in spaces. This in addition to the basic outline for each illustration.
We pretty much decided on PENCIL & PAPER GAMES - WITH SHAPES & COLORS
or NEW PENCIL & PAPER GAMES - WITH SHAPES & COLORS as the name
(cont. on 2/13)
