5 WEDNESDAY - FEBRUARY 1975
36TH DAY - 329 DAYS TO COME
To Felicia. Brought her JACK POTS 6 and we played a part of a game. She had trouble understanding which spaces the dice throws indicated.
Returned POWERPLAY and told her I couldn't be sure about it without seeing the actual model, since some things were unclear and, hopefully, the model will clear them up.
She called the inventor and told him to contact her about bringing in the model at the beginning of March. She also asked him, if things are still not clear, if he'll be willing to split royalties with me to clear them up. Of course.
Looked at Alan Newman's AUTO MAGNATE quickly, since it didn't look too interesting. One mechanism: when a player lands on a "production" space (by dice throw) he can produce the specified number of cars. However he can, if he wishes, throw a special die with 4 "double' and 2 "strike" faces. If he throws a "double" he doubles the production. He can throw up to 3 times, doubling each time. If, however, he throws a "strike" he gets no production for this turn and loses as many subsequent turns as he threw the die.
Looked at THAT'S SHOW BIZ, BABY!. There are several stacks of cards which give the players various tasks (didn't get details). The others judge whether they did o.k. or "Don't call us, we'll call you." Move forward or backwards in accordance. (Similar to movement in GROUP THERAPY.)
Looked at QUICKSAND (which is a redo of FIRE ISLAND LINGO). The "wordgiver" pulls two letter cards from a deck and thinks of a word using there two letters and any number more. He puts them down with the cardboard "dashes" representing the other letters. The next player guesses the word, with the aid of three one- word clues. If he does guess it he gets a certain number of points and then puts the word on a SCRABBLE type board using cardboard letter tiles. He then has a set time to form as many linking words as he can, all pertaining to the original word (which must be a noun). Play until 8 sets of words have been placed. The original word in each case must be placed separately but the others can link with previous sets. If the word is not guessed, the "wordgiver" makes the pertaining words. There are some bonus spaces on the board which are collected only if a word ends on one. (Fairly complete idea.)
I gave Felicia a pin we bought in Rome. She had lunch sent up.

Came in with his TRADE BALANCE game.
6 continents are on a map of the world
and each player (from 2 to 6) starts in a
continent. He has 5 "commodity" cards and
also has a specified requirement of 5 other "commodities"
that he must pick up to be self sufficient. Players move
along paths a single path that links all 6 continents and
buy-sell-trade with other players, trying to get their 5
missing "commodities." When I asked him questions about the
play I couldn't get answers from him. Finally I asked him how
