JANUARY 1975 - WEDNESDAY 29
29TH DAY - 336 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. the signed contract for the book (THE ART OF GAMES), with a note from Fay.

Rcd. NOST-ALGIA #176. Phil Cohen mentions LAP, Lech Pijanowski, G&P, AGOG, and Don Laycock. No column by Ralph Betza.

Call from Felicia. She had a long talk with Bob Johnson. He said that FOCUS was right up there - either first or second - in the testing. She said that was great and he said they'd have to have a long talk on whether to include it in the line. She was disgusted but just didn't say anything.

The contract with Ravensburger will probably be signed in February. He was evasive as to whether she will be retained as a consultant after then, and she is not telling him everything she knows. He seemed disappointed that she liscensed BALI to Aladdin, and then asked if she could plug him for a job at Aladdin. (No way!) She tried to find out who was in charge at Springbok, so she could show the LIFE SAVER, etc. puzzle line. He kept avoiding giving an answer.

She asked what options Hallmark had of mine and (with two more calls each way) came up with the following, RED LETTER, ANOTHER, PE-LING, DIGIT, TROMINO GO were extended for 2 years (ending 8/24/75 according to contract Felicia has) (see 9/4/73). An entry on 8/6/73 reads that they are keeping PLANES and FOCUS, but there is time left. I rcd. the PLANES advance on 3/15/72.

Western Publishing is in trouble so she doesn't see much chance for FOCUS there now.

Her deluxe TRIPPPLES game came with all the pcs. out of place and she asked if I'd be talking to Ed Schifman. Told her that I already called him with complaints on it. She'll be seeing Bud Thomas next week and she'll tell him.

She asked me to get catalogs for her at Toy Fair.

John Stephenson called her about getting BALI. Said some nice things about me.

She'd like my opinion on POWERPLAY and I promised to get to it today. She has another GAME from an inventor Bob Gellman sent her that she'll show me when I come in.

Anne Soucie called to call off date for tomorrow.

Went over POWERPLAY and fixed up the pictures of the boards [illegible strikeout] as best I could. The "neutral" and "sea' spaces were unclear on the original pictures.

Put contact on the back of the rough PROFIT cards, after making new "Dividend" cards. 10-20-30-50 for red; 10-20-40-60 for green; and 10-30-50-70 for blue. Decided not to prohibit playing more than one dividend card of the same color on a turn. Also eliminate prohibiting it in first two turns. But do not allow a player to buy stock and collect a dividend in the same turn.
