JANUARY 1975 - THURSDAY 23
23RD DAY - 342 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. TOYS (Jan.). Nothing new to me.
Called Bob Gellman to tell him the info on MACARTHUR (see 1/17). He asked me to send it in a letter. When I said that he had said to call the info to him he said he "hated me." Wrote letter to him and ended "Right now I hate you too!!"
Wrote memo David Parlett mentioning G&P, ZETEMA, RUMMY, and MAH JONGG. Enclosed it in my letter to David Pritchard.
Wrote to Pierre Berloquin. Mentioned BLOCUS, LEDERNIER MOT, LES FUGITIFS, LES BLINDES, LE TROIKER, 100 GRANDES REUSSITES, my new book (THE ART OF GAMES), Lucien Vittet, CREATIVE COMPUTING.
Wrote to Odette Willis and Lucien Vittet. Mentioned Felicia, HIGH RISE, his puzzles, and INSANITY INSANITY.
Wrote to Marek Penszko, Mentioned Martin Gardner, FOOTBALL, Lech Pijanowski, Janusz Weychert.
(cont. from 1/22) [1/22]
Wrote to David Pritchard saying that I would be interested in writing a column on the "American Scene" for "G&P."
(cont. from 1/24) [1/24]
(later looked and found only a French game, [illegible strikeout] SUCCES, in
1970 diary.) His idea is a game where players can "invest" small
amounts of money at favorable odds. Then as they get more
capital they can invest more larger amounts at less favorable odds,
etc. (To be worked out.)
Claude saw THE PETER PRINCIPLE GAME in a thrift shop for about $3.50. Told him not to bother, since I have the set from PSYCHOLOGY TODAY plus the rules for the boxed set.
Ed Schifman called. Told him that the "Special Document" for INTERSECTION should have been changed. He said he'd try but, with other production problems, he couldn't promise. I asked, and he said that the basic rules had been fixes. But not the 4-1s in the TOTALLY illustration.
Letter to [illegible strikeout] Howard Thompson of "METAGAMING CONCEPTS" about STELLAR CONQUEST.
Started coloring in the sheets for RAILWAYS RIVALS preparatory to writing. At first had problems, but later figured it out.
With Claude and Anne to Flea Market in Flushing. At book stall for $1.50
bought POOL CHECKERS OR SPANISH POOL. The owner

used to have the Arcadia Book Shop on Broadway.
He'll look for books for me. Exchanged cards.
Showed IF to Claude. Got the VENTURE rules from Anne.
