JANUARY 1975 - TUESDAY 21
STONEWALL JACKSON BORN 1824 - 21ST DAY - 344 DAYS TO COME
Call from Felicia. The inventor of POWER PLAY is bugging her constantly. She told him that I was looking at it and was busy with other things. Told her I'd try to look at it today but she said not to hurry.
Bob Gellman is sending her an inventor with 5 business GAMEs. I believe he also sent her the inventor of POWER PLAY. When she spoke to Bob he told her that business was good. He will be giving discounts for early orders and rebates at te end of the year to make it even better.
He thinks that stationary stores will be less of a market for games since they will be putting much of their "Open to buy" into calculators.
He has contacts for placing PATTON and MACARTHUR in PX's all over the world. He is quite excited about this altho Felicia believes that they want exceptionally low terms.
He told her WEEKEND IN VEGAS was doing quite well. It was invented, he said, by a professional gambler.
I told her that WASHINGTON had been dropped. She agreed that there would be a flood of things for the bicentennial.
I told her about getting the package from Aladdin and that I would be calling Ed Schifman. She mentioned that she didn't have a copy of TRIPPPLES and I told her I'd ask him to send one.
Called Fabio Coen after reading through the contract for the new book (THE ART OF GAMES). I questioned the $2,200 they gave as my debit. My last report, rcd. 8/1/74, was $2,105.71. He asked me to sign the contract and he'd look into it and make necessary changes.
He asked when I'd have it ready and I said I'd try for the middle of February, but no later than the end. He'd like me to send him VASARELY as soon as possible, also the new MIRO.
There was some talk about my having to do the color overlays for the diagrams in the instructions. When I get the rules written we will get together on this.
Since the contract calls the book "juvenile" I asked if the content of my introduction is appropriate. He thinks so, but will call me if he has any suggestions. // Signed the two contracts and mailed them.
Called Ed Schifman collect. His new telephone # is [drawn bracket] Ed Schifman [drawn bracket] 615-748-3165
Told him that I rcd. the package and that the INTERSECTION did not
have the sheet with the variant. These are old stock; he'll
send me the sheets.
Told him about the extra blank in the deluxe TRIPPPLES and the tiles not fitting. Expansion is the problem and they will eliminate wood. They are looking into ceramic tile.
Things are going much better than expected. Sales of TRIPPPLES and there is the beginnings of sales in TOTALLY and INTERSECTION, including some to Central America - with Spanish rules. They will be going to a toy show in Quebec. Also there is
