Tried to get Felicia before I left. Not in, and she called later. Told Dana she'd call tomorrow.

Rcd. [received] a Holiday card from Phil Orbanes.
Rcd. [received] a gift of tape of different types, a tube of adhesive, sand paper, and some cleaning items that BB took. Also a card by "The 3M Games Group" - Dick Christiansen, Keith Tuggle, Carol Peterson. In an attractive box.

Since Phil Orbanes didn't call yesterday I called him. I said that he should have the illustrations for SPY, but he said they may have been lost. I'll bring them when I go to see Manny Lefkowitz after X'mas [Christmas]. Phil will be off, and the office closed - so I'll drop them in the slot. Phil will have Al Zyqier make "mechanicals" to have them reproduced.
Phil suggested that I ask Manny about the fact that we haven't rcd. [received] any word about VEGAS 13, CHINESECHEK, DAM-IT!, NINETACTOE, and WORDPLAY royalties this year. Phil can't get any response from their accounting force.
Phil is mailing me a check for I-Q dividends.

BB sent holiday cards to Felicia, the Richters, the Bredehorns, Stan Chess, and the Orbanes.

Working on two ideas for a new MIRO game. One is to have players continue along the line without turning, coloring in 1, 2, or 3 segments on a turn. When a "loop" is completed the player completing puts a dot of his color in each section in the loop. At the end the players fill in the sections where they have a majority of dots and count 1 point for each. Some sections are not in loops at all; other have an even number of dots. In either case the section is not filled in, which is not too artistic. Changing the arrangements so that each section is in a loop, and most are in an odd number of loops should help this.

The second idea is to follow the line. The first player marks off one, two, or three segments, the next player marks that number and then one, two, or three more. (Another idea might be to use a set number, but allow them at either end.) When a section is surrounded the player with the most line segments around it colors it and scores a point. If the line segments are even, then the one completing the section scores it.

Another GAME idea for THE ART OF GAMES is to have about 12 rectangular spaces, divided by heavy lines. Each is divided into from 6 to perhaps 10 irregular spaces. These have from 1 to 5 dots in them, again irregularly arranged. Players, in turn, color in a space, starting with a 1, then a 2, thru 5, then starting at 1 again, etc. No more that 2 areas can be worked on at
