DECEMBER 1974 - FRIDAY 13
347TH DAY - 18 DAYS TO COME

Downtown. Stopped at Bob Reiss' and Bob Gellman's offices. Neither in.
To S&R. The regular gal was not there and the other one wanted to charge me $3 for a review copy of THE OLD SHELL GAME. Then Lee Tiffany (who I didn't remember) greeted me effusively and she just gave me the game. Looked at GOT A MINUTE. I think there are 7 dice, and the score for 2 to 6 letter words are 2 to 6 and 10 points for a 7-letter word.
The list price of THE OLD SHELL GAME is $6.00.
To Mag-Nif. Got a copy of TURNABOUT (list price $5.00) and also a sheet with strategy that sells for [illegible strikeout] 25¢. Also took a catalog (filed in '74 misc. [1974 miscellaneous]). Nothing new in games Saw SCORE 3 (see diagram) in catalog. [drawing of board] Obviously the object is to get 3 in a row. (Played around with King's moves and limiting it to 1 space orthogonally. Neither was much of a game.)

To Felicia. She just had a long talk with Shep Bently, who has replaced Jim Kelso as the head of games at Aladdin. It looks very encouraging for BALI.
The [illegible strikeout] problem with costing TAKEOVER is still there and Ed Schifman will discuss it with us. B-O-C-Q is being rejected and Ed will bring it, and tell her his comments.
I told her of my letter from Eric Naiburg on VECTOR and CARAPACE. She'll want $100 each for trying to place them.
Told her about EXECUTIVE DECISION in MONEY Magazine. She'd like a copy and I said I'd bring it.
She had a clipping from Sunday's TIMES with an article on war-gaming - mainly about A.H. [Avalon Hill], mentioning Tom Shaw and THE GENERAL. Games mentioned were: GUADALCANAL, CHANCELLORVILLE RICHTHOFEN'S WAR, CHANCELLORSVILLE, MIDWAY, STALINGRAD, JUTLAND, PANZERBLITZ, GETTYSBURG, THE MOSCOW CAMPAIGN, RUSSIA 1941, LA GRANDE ARMEE. NAPOLEON IN CENTRAL EUROPE 1805-1809, 1776 (A.H.) [Avalon Hill], 1914, THE THIRD REICH, DIPLOMACY, GAMBIT, IMPERIALISM, BAR-LEV, NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION, TACTICS II, BATTLE OF THE BULGE, D-DAY, MIDWAY, U-BOAT. (Filed in '74 misc. [1974 miscellaneous]) (If she needs it I will run a repro [reproduction] for her.
While looking in her cabinet I came across KOO KOO KONSTRUCTIONS by George Bredehorn. There is a metal board that is stood up at about 15% to vertical. There is a spinner with numbers from 4 (about) to 12. There are 12 odd shaped pcs. [pieces] with cards corresponding to each. A player spins the dial and then takes that many cards from the shuffled deck. The corresponding pcs. [pieces] are then attached magnetically to the board in order, starting at the top of the board, they were drawn. A marble is then released at the top. The player scores one point for each pc. [piece] hit in the proper order, with a bonus for hitting them all.
She also has a color picture of his CAN DO, "A game of balancing skill in which a variety of wobbly structures must
