8 SUNDAY - DECEMBER 1974
IMMACULATE CONCEPTION - 342ND DAY - 23 DAYS TO COME
Played 2 games of JACK POTS 6 with the Horn's using the rule of always chipping at least one chip. They liked it.
Call from Claude (by mistake, instead of calling Anne). Nothing specifically about games. Mary Ellen will be coming to New York and would like to come visit us.

areas further out are used. Each player starts his
pc. [piece] with a projection in a corner - the two corners being
adjacent. By pivoting their pc. [piece] on any one of the
three projections (making 12 different moves the highest
possible) they each try to be the first to place a projection
in the diagonally opposite hole.
Played with him and it was rather dull. It is scheduled
for introduction in Feb. '76 [February 1976] and he'll work on improving the
playability.
Felicia gave him the bookshelf copy of PATTON, since she has
the original large one.
We both tried to emphasize that Aladdin should diversify
their line, not make it so heavy in strategy games. He said
that they don't want to cover the full spectrum - rather to
find a spot that they will take over. Also the final decision

Aladdin is an industrial designer. At present he is working
almost exclusively on games - and loves it.
He said that the 3M gamettes are selling well in Nashville.
Ed and I here for supper (Felicia had another appointment.)
During evening he told me about another game the was
working on CROSS PURPOSES. Object is to switch positions
one player horizontally across the board, the other vertically.
Didn't go into more detail, since "he doesn't know if they'd
want him talking about games in development."
Another game by an outside inventor is called HO-VE-DI
(for horizontal, vertical, and diagonal). It uses cards and
a board.
I showed him HONORABLE RELATIONS and we played a game.
I said it was not one of my greatest games, since it
was conceived as a puzzle. He said he liked it and
would like to consider it for '76 [1976]. (It has to be ready
no later that 3/15/75.) A snag developed in the
relationship. If the player at the arrow end is behind, he
can refuse to move and release the opponent's pc. [piece] Told
Ed I'd work on it and improve the game.
Since they will be using cards for HO-VE-DI and probably
for BALI, I asked if he'd be interested in PROFIT. Definitely.
Aladdin has been getting a lot of unsolicited submittions [submissions],
almost all of them junk. The manufacturer of MEM
(which I told him was a good game) and the manufacturer
