4 WEDNESDAY - DECEMBER 1974
338TH DAY - 27 DAYS TO COME
Call from Ed Schifman. they are having trouble with costing
out TAKEOVER. They want to list is at $9.95, but at
present there is $2 worth of paper inside. He mentioned
something about printing the "Calculation" on the box.
He is coming to New York next week and wants to get together
with Felicia and me. Arranged for him to get to Felicia's at
12:30 on 12/13. After talking there we will all come here for
supper.
He is bringing his games BARRIER and PIVOT for our comments.
If I want to show something for 1976, he will be glad to look.
I asked if there have been any sales on INTERSECTION and TOTALLY.
Nothing, but he hears that all game sales are slow.
There are a lot of copies of TRIPPPLES on the shelves and it
is a question of how they will move off. However, they have
have been getting some reorders.
Incidentally, he said that PUSHOVER was doing coming along nicely.
Later I was thinking about TAKEOVER. A folding board can be
used with spaces for the cards. In the center the calculator
can be printed with a small marker for keeping track. The
company cards (with numbers to indicate the available
companies) can be eliminated and instead can be printed on the
bottom of the box. For determining the companies that
get bonuses, two dice can be thrown - the product indicating
the company to get a bonus.
Called Felicia. George Bredehorn was there (and sent his
regards) and Felicia called me back.
She kept his TRI-HOCKEY, changing the name to TRI-ACTION.
Also UP THE CHUTE. She doesn't like his word games at all.
Told her about Ed Schifman's call. She is not happy about coming
in on a Friday but of course will. She has a date for that
evening so won't be able to come here.
She has decided that strategy games are not selling and that she
won't handle them anymore. If a new company tells her that
they want some, she will try to talk them out of it.
Rcd. [received] a letter from Walter Luc Haas. He is definitely editing
issue #2 of the store magazine SPIELBRETT (the name of
the store too). Mentions G&P, BAZAAR, FEUDAL, MONOPOLY,
SLEUTH.
Enclosed copies of a letter to Howie Barasch and a questionaire
he is sending to various game companies, including S.P.I and AH [Avalon Hill].
Rcd. [received] a call from John Hrivnak who was given my number by Bob Gellman. He had a question on MACARTHUR, which was actually covered in the rules. (He was very pleasant and said that the rules were very well written.
Rcd. [received] a U.P.S. package with a copy of MONOPOLY and a second copy of THE MONOPOLY BOOK. Also a note saying "With the compliments
