30 SATURDAY - NOVEMBER 1974
ST. ANDREW, APOSTLE - 334TH DAY - 31 DAYS TO COME

At a bazaar in Westchester Job Lot bought a copy of Q-SETS (Coleco) for $2.50.

Late in evening BB & I discussed JACK POTS 6 with BB. Since I am limiting the number of players for 4, we felt that it might be better to go back to playing on one board. Tried a two-hand game, each of us having two differently colored sets of 7 markers (2 colors each that is). Didn't finish since it was a bore. Then played using my ideas of last night. It was more interesting, although BB ran away with the game.

During day called Adela Richter to check on Brian's tonsilectomy. Nothing on games.

They both feel that if the TV deal works out they will be "over the hump" in the game business. Phil will then be so busy as an administrator that they will need me on retainer to handle the creative end.

I asked about THE FREAKY KING OF THE HILL. It is just about dead. The cereal company is more into magic that games.

I asked Marty about THE GOOD EARTH. He is busy with deals now for getting "Gamut" in shape. But after this is accomplished he'll definitely get back to selling this.

Phil said that he has been trying to get a royalty statement from Reiss' office on the p&p games: CHINESECHEK, DAM-IT!, NINETACTOE, WORDPLAY, VEGAS 13 - but they tell him that things are in disorder and they don't have it now.

Phil hears that they are in bad shape with falling sales. Bob Reiss no longer has much weight at Paragon, Enio Racinelli is out, as are almost all of the former brass in the California office.

Phil showed me an article from Dec. '74 MONEY Mag. on THE GAME OF LIFE, CLASS, RICOCHET, WEEKEND IN VEGAS, THE STOCK MARKET GAME (A.H.) [Avalon Hill], STOCKS AND BONDS, EXECUTIVE DECISION, COMMODITIES (WORLD COMMODITY FUTURES TRADING), MONOPOLY, and ANTI-MONOPOLY. (Had JOAnne run off 2 copies for me.)

To S.P.I. Told Jim Dunnigan about the article in COSMOPOLITAN and he had Howie go down for one. Jim and I had a more friendly talk than we have had for sometime.

Howie Barasch didn't have anything for me.

Dave Isby gave me five German catalogs. I asked where he gets them and he said from John Mansfield (see 11/22).

Parker: SUPER HIRN, SERENGETI, AVALANCHE, DER SINN, WATERLOO, KARRIERE, CLUEDO, DER SPIEL DER NATIONEN.

Ravensburger: QUARO, CORONA, CARTINO, DAS BORSENSPIEL, SURAKARTA, LINGUA, COLOMINO, FORMA, JOCKEY, REVERSI, HEPTA, ISOLA, 3X16, BANDA, QUADRATA, SCHASKA, DOMICOLOR, MIRACLE,
