NOVEMBER 1974 - THURSDAY 7
311TH DAY - 54 DAYS TO COME
Rcd. a letter from Bob Gellman with the rough draft of the WASHINGTON blurb.
Made up a rough set of equipment for duplicate INTERSECTION (which I kept) and a better set to send to Aladdin. Wrote the rules.
Wrote a covering letter to Ed Schifman. In this made a suggestion for a change in the PUSHOVER graphics.
(cont. from 11/8) [11/22]
add some material, I took the set home with me.
I asked Kip, and he gave me an ad folder with a free folder envelope
to send to S.P.I. - to send to Lonnie Brummit (see 11/21).
Rushed, so didn't have a chance to get any other material.
To Harper and Row bookstore and ordered a copy of GAME THEORY - A NONTECHNICAL INTRODUCTION. Was told it is $2.75.
To Doubleday and bought THE MEMORY BOOK - for $8.59, including tax.
Saw a book THE DOMINO BOOK and bought it - for $5.95 plus tax = $6.43. It has five (out of 20) "games" that are original with the author. Also the 10 "solitaires" are his. And there are 136 "puzzles."
Took back the translation of PAGODE and the other material I gave to my father (see 10/1). (In a quick look couldn't make much sense of it.)
[Started 10/22]
Rcd. SIGNAL #68 by John Mansfield (a bi-weekly newszine) - as
an ad for the zine. Among the games mentioned: COMBAT COMMAND,
DESERT WAR, KAMPFPANZER, SIXTH FLEET, PATROL, COMBINED ARMS,
LOST BATTLES, FLIGHT OF THE GOEBEN, BASTOGNE, CHICAGO-CHICAGO,
THE MARNE, BLUE & GRAY; IMPERIUM, EMPIRE II; SEELOWE,
MANASSAS, EAST IS RED, PANZERBLITZ variants (PROCHOROVKA, TARAWA,
OHAHA, STALINGRAD [ICW]). (Filed in "Misc. Mags." drawer.) Also PENTAC,
TORGAU, CORAL SEA, NARVIK.
Rcd. a letter from Jim Scully. Asked about a general interest magazine on games - not like PLAYTHINGS. I'll tell him about G&P. [drawing of arrow pointing up and arrow pointing down] [Started 11/22]
Richard Berg, who is a lawyer, said that R.G.I. is open to a lawsuit for saying things like "Play the pros" on their sports games, when they have nothing to do with the pros. I told him that I didn't approve of "Realistic" on PATTON and MACARTHUR, but he said that that word is just "puffery."
