10/29 10/24 10/23 10/14 OCTOBER 1974 - WEDENSDAY 30 303RD DAY - 62 DAYS TO COME
Call from Felicia. Some people from Aladdin are coming in this morning. Shepard (Shep) Bentley, who is taking James Kelso's place, would like to meet me. (This was at 8:30 and I got to Felicia's at about 10:15.)
Kelso, incidentally, has moved up to a higher job (I believe) to be in charge of all foreign activities. Ed Schifman is in charge of R&D, not in foreign dept. as Felicia believed. At present Ed is in charge of all R&D, but soon he will be work only on games. (This info is from Shep.) Shep thinks that Ed's game BARRIER will blow my mind. Bud Thomas was also there most of the time. He told me that the reason for the variation to INTERSECTION was to "bulk out" the package. Some buyers are saying that there is not enough for the money.
Bud asked if I wanted my models of TOTALLY and INTERSECTION back. I said yes, if they would throw them out otherwise. Bud said that Ed would definitely like to start an "archive" with original models, etc. I said by all means to keep them. Mentioned my idea of a game museum, using my collection as a nucleous. Interest, but no definite conclusions.
I mentioned to Shep that the rules of Ed's INTERSECTION variation are not clear, and he said that he had noticed it.
Shep has a variation of his own, which I liked. It is the same as my rules except that the four corner discs and the one in the center are put face down. This adds a little luck. He said that a new sheet would be prepared, with a correction of Ed's variation and his.
I gave them three copies of AGOG, one signed to Ed, one to ship, and one to Bud.
They had a copy of TOTALLY and INTERSECTION for me. They pointed out some errors that have caught in the TOTALLY rules. At home I discovered that they didn't change the illustration to get rid of the 4 - 1s. In INTERSECTION I found some references to colorsthat have no meaning now. // Shep suggested the name BALI-NOO.
Felicia tried to sell them on BALI and I helped. It looks as if they will be taking it. One problem is putting enough in to get a good prive.
Felicia mentioned that she heard that they would be putting out a card GAME. Yes, but it will also have a board.
After they left Felicia sent down for sandwiches. She told me that Lilian Voegelin [illegible strikeout] made a lot of money from M.B. [Milton Bradley] for writing the instruction booklet for a BACKGAMMON tutor. This has made Lillian interested in games again. She would like to collaborate with me. Felicia was noncommittal. So was I. The subject then came around to Terry Seymour and Mickie Mackay.
Felicia mentioned that she'd like to have a copy of S&T in the office.
I mentioned the new version of HIGH RISE. She has gotten no interest in it.
To S.P.I. Spoke to Dave Isby about Walter Luc Haas. They have met. Dave said that he would keep Haas informed.
Howie Barasch had a game addressed to me, STELLAR CONQUEST. A letter was enclosed saying that "Aside from the game, we've enclosed some additional information that may help put the game
