17 THURSDAY - OCTOBER 1974 290TH DAY - 75 DAYS TO COME

Called Bob Gellman. He doesn't think that "The New York Campaign" is well known enough. I told him that there just wasn't anything else I could use and that I'd write the blurb to make it sound important.

Finally rcd. the envelope from David Gwynn Watts (see 9/18) with RAILWAY RIVALS and THE PENINSULAR WAR.

Started thinking of FREAKIES game. Decided on a spiral path in the form of a hill - possible name THE FREAKY KING OF THE HILL. to keep all of the 7 characters in the game, have those not actually racing act as "friends."

anyway. The rules in R. du J. are quite complete.

- PORTRAIT-MASSACRE (D'Alleyrac) (June '72). This is a children's game of Pierre's.

- ORDINO TRAIN (Hachette) (June '72). Will try to send info.

- LA PART DU LION (Robert Laffont) (Sept. '72). This is Vittet's. I said that it is a children's game but Pierre said definitely not. He is sure that Vittet would send me one but I said that I had it already and Vittet has sent me too much already.

Pierre said that Vittet's best is LES DEUX SAMURAI, which I have under the name L'ANNEAU ENCHANTE DE TOM TIT.

- LES CORSAIRES (Capiepa - License FX Schmid). Pierre said this was good. I have it.

Made a list of the REVUE DU JOUET from which I have game reviews. Pierre, when and if, he finds his mags., will send me repros of others.

The board for Vittet's HIGH RISE came from that gal in Milwaukee, a little beat up. Also no dice. Told Pierre and he'll tell Vittet.

Pierre has, or will shortly have, 11 books in print:- LE LIVRE DES JEUX; the 4 puzzle books; TESTEZ VOTRE INTELLIGENCE; UN SOUVENIR D'ENFANCE D'EVARISTE GALOIS (all of which I have); 100 GRANDE REUSSITES; a book of party games; a book on TAROT games; a joint venture with other puzzle creators called VOULEZ VOUS JOUEZ AVEC NOUS?, each contributing a different type.

In Brussels there is a dealer who features books on games. He is not too expensive, running from $3 to $10. Pierre will have him send me catalogs. He has printed - French and English editions - a bibliography of game books which, tho about 12, is well worth having. Pierre will have him send info on this too.

The dealer's name is "Jean-Leo."

I asked Pierre to reproduce the best parts of that book he found with 100 new solitaires and send them to me. Two of them are in Pierre's 100 GRANDES REUSSITES.
