9 WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 1974 282ND DAY - 83 DAYS TO COME
Wrote the rules for TWICE AS HARD.
Called Phil Orbanes to ask whether I should show FUN CITY to Manny Lefkowitz. Not in.
Rcd. letter from Walter Luc Haas. Mentioned a possible Swiss game magazine. Also 3M.
Letter from Thomas Galloway. Mentioned SPACE HUK, WAYLAND MADNESS, DERCH-ACH, and HEXTERMINATION.
Sent out the letter to Desmond Spittlehouse I wrote on 10/9.
Dale's Phil said that he has been seeing TV ads by Jerry Lewis for gambling and MONOPOLY type games. Checked the catalog and saw that HASBRO said that he would be advertising their games - such as THE GREAT ESTATE and DOUBLE DEALER.
BB and I met Fabio Coen and Sylvana. To Mona Lisa restaurant and then to their apartment. Four of us played MONDRIAN and DELAUNAY (part of a game). BB and Axel, their son, played SPRINGER. Fabio kept giving me suggestions on what to say in my descriptions of the games. However at the end of the evening he said not to do anything further until he speaks to the sales force. Sylvania said she enjoyed the games.
If the book is done, it will be for the fall of '75.
ALTAIR DESIGN has sold over 200,000 copies.
(cont. from 10/10) [10/10]
Bought the Aug. SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN for 50¢ at Sylvan.
Deposited the NO WAY check in United Mutual Bank.
Met Claude and went to thrift shops. I bought FEDS 'N HEADS and Claude bought UNIVERSE. I also bought another carrying bag with 4 zippered compartments - $7. Met the girls and had supper together.
At a thrift shop saw THE WATERGATE GAME (Brunic) but it was trivial and I didn't get it.
Claude told me about his ideas for RAZZLE DAZZLE. Players buy up
land in a city that may go up in value because of building projects.
A set of cards give info on wheth what land is going to go up in
value. Players get opportunities to look at cards secretly so that
they get advance info. But there are a few opportunities to
rearrange the cards.
I suggested gathering together parcels of land to build office buildings, apts., etc. according to demand that is built up in some way. Claude said that that is a different game that I should work on. Possible name - THE REAL REAL ESTATE GAME.
