9/29 9/21 1 TUESDAY - OCTOBER 1974 SUCCOTH, FIRST DAY OF TABERNACLES - 274TH DAY - 91 DAYS TO COME
At F.A.O. Sch[w]arz bought THE ASPEN GAME for $4.95. It was a sample of a game they don't intend to handle - I am pretty sure.) They didn't have any of my games at all. Among the 3M games there were many IMAGE and POINT OF LAW.
To Fabio with THE ART OF GAMES folder. He read it thru and had some difficulty in a few places. I told him that illustrations would help and that this was a rough draft.
He said that he played KLEE and each player made one point each turn. We played part of a game and I got a few points ahead by making him miss some scores and by getting doubles. Probably 5 ahead for winning would be better.
He suggested getting together, two couples, to play the games. Set date for 10/9 at their house at 8. He may call me about having supper there. [drawn bracket] Fabio Coen [drawn bracket] 343 E. 50th 10022 [drawn bracket] 1st stairway to rt., up 4 flights [drawn bracket] (PL 2-3167)
To S.P.I. Spoke to Howie Barasch about my letter from Walter Luc Haas. Howie is putting him down for a free airmail subscription to S&T and MOVES. He prepared a package with the TANK expansion, the large catalog, and I believe one other item which I don't remember.
As for getting games quicker, it is a question of paying for airmail rather than surface postage - an expensive proposition. David Isby is the one Walter should stay in touch with to get the latest info. David wasn't in so didn't get to talk to him about it.
Howie game me the material that I left in the copy of ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ.
Made repros of the board half for KLONDIKE; for the games PRESSURE and COMMAND DECISION (see 9/19); the material that Walter Luc Haas wants returned (see 9/28) - 2 copies, 1 for myself and one for dad to translate; the rules for PAGODE - to translate. Howie had a copy of 1776 [A.H.] [Avalon Hill], which they had bought in Brentano's. Borrowed it.
Spoke to Redmund. I'll have my column in next week or, at the latest, 10/14. Took an unbound copy of S&T #46 to get an idea of the minimum space I can count on.
Took two sets of "Errata" sheets (It, which I believe is all), on for me and one to send to Haas.
To Felicia. Alan Newman there going over LONG DISTANCE with her. She will show it to Lynn Pressman tomorrow. Loaned her my Pressman catalog. In connection with Aladdin, Alan asked if his B-O-C-Q was still being considered. Felicia said "yes."
I looked at my 4 things back from Aladdin. FOREIGN INTRIGUE was in good shape & I left it. SPACE BOXES was in bad shape but I think it can be fixed. Left it for later since I had other material to carry.
