SEPTEMBER 1974 - THURSDAY 26 YOM KIPPUR, DAY OF ATONEMENT - 269TH DAY - 96 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. letter from Lou Zocchi. My column helped sell about 200 ALIEN SPACE. He has a new GAME coming out in about a week. Will send me one.

He enclosed a fantasy war game BATTLE OF HELMS DEEP.

Call from Robert St. Cyr. He'll be here in the morning on 10/2 and will call on 10/1 for directions. I told him that I was getting my games from Felicia, but won't tell her that he is involved. He'd prefer it that way for the present. He hopes to be able to tell me more about the big company when we get together.

Wrote to Pierre Berloquin. Cut down the number of games I mentioned to a:- CHICAGO, NAVALTIC, ORDINO CARTE, LES FUGITIFS, STRINGO, MAGELLAN, LES VILLAGES, LES BLINDES, and ECHEC AUX CHEVALIERS. Also mentioned LA REVUE DU JOUET.

Bought the book GAMES FOR THE SUPER-INTELLIGENT - in paperback for 95¢. At Marboro.

(cont. from 9/27) [9/27]

Wrote intro to THE ART OF GAMES. Wrote rough rules for MONDRIAN and most of ARP.

Call from a friend of Robert St. Cyr to get directions for coming here next Wednesday. (His name and telephone number in case I have to make a change: Rick Gaudette 433 423-0730)

In writing up MONDRIAN thought of a possible variation - which I didn't include. When played with partners, each team adds the scored of the two partners and then subtracts the difference.

Also thinking of a variation for SPRINGER to get more concentrated play between players. A space must be next to one already taken by an opponent. Later realized that a player could never finish up until the opponent lets him. Another possibility that I could investigate. A space must be either next to an opponent's or connected to two of a player's own in order to be filled.
