involving either dice, cards, or tossing coins and the number of spaces gained for accomplishing them. Players in their turn choose the "task" they'll try. If they miss they can, if they wish, choose the other "task" next time. First to reach center wins. (we played and it was rather a bore.) I got rather enthusiastic about TRI HOCKEY and FINDERS KEEPERS and thought they might be good for Ideal. Told George I'd call Jules Cooper, even tho Felicia will still be involved later. Later I thought that M.B.'s [Milton Bradley] PADDLE POOL is very similar to TRI-HOCKEY and I now hesitate to call Jules. [Started 10/5]

Looked and saw that I had 4 copies of FOCUS, two being in the duplicate box in the basement.

Called Bob Johnson and, after a lot of busy signals and someone not wanting to accept the call, got through through. Asked his purpose in asking for the 4 copies. He wants a lot of people to play the game and wants to have copies available in a "game library." I offered to make up sets using checkerboards and chips, but he said that he could get someone to do it - even tho basically he runs a one-man operation. I told him I had two copies and might be able to get 1 or 2 more. He said that we should send as many as we could, but next week would be fine.

In connection with the "game library" he asked me to send him a listing of books on games that he might be able to buy. Said I would next week.

I asked if any other of my games than FOCUS are being considered. Yes, but there will be further word in [illegible strikeout] 4 or 5 weeks. I asked if I should send him my RED LETTER changes. Yes. I told him about the goof in the FITTING & PROPER rules. He wants the details in writing. I asked if FITTING & PROPER and THE RIGHT CONNECTIONS would be marketed again. Probably not in the present form; but that is a "Springbok" decision and Bob is "Hallmark." I asked if he could send me about more of each of the games. He'll take care of it.

Incidentally, I told him not to use the rules for FOCUS in the Whitman set, but instead make repros of the rules in AGOG. He will. Also use 13 pcs. instead of 12 in the 4-hand version.
