17 TUESDAY - SEPTEMBER 1974 ROSH HASHANA, JEWISH NEW YEAR - 260TH DAY - 105 DAYS TO COME
Looking thru ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ & KLONDIKE to see what material has to be copied, so that I can return the games.
Played TWICE AS HARD with Dave Horn. At first he didn't care too much for it, but it grew on him.
(cont. from 9/18) [9/19]
I told him about TWICE AS HARD and that I already had it all worked out. Phil said by all means to submit it. However he had devised a number of wood square games while he was working there and nothing came of them.
To S.P.I. Copied all the cards from ESCAPE FROM COLDITZ. Copied the cards from KLONDIKE and thought I was doing the board. By mistake I did half of it twice.
Returned the "Colditz" game to Howie Barasch. He gave me a game that someone in Hong Kong had sent to Jim Dunnigan. Also the covering letter. The game is called TORPEDO ATTACK GAME. I didn't get the chance to talk to Jim, but Howie said he's pretty sure I can keep the game (which isn't much).
Dave Isby was back from England. He had two German catalogs for me. One was for the 3M games including BAZAAR. EXECUTIVE DECISION was shown in a picture, but not listed.
The other was for "Spielwaren Christmann" which contained games and other material from different manufacturers including: JOCKEY, COLOMINO, BANDA, QUADRATA, SCHASKA, FORMA, VERHEXT, NIM, ZORNBRECHER, EL CID, 3-D MUHLE, CLEVERBANK, STRATEGO, GO, TRICTRAC, SURAKARTA, LINGUA, FLOTTENMANOVER, TROKE, TRIMULA, TYPISCH DU. PAGODE, XERXES, LASKA, KNOBELLO, LORIOT ROMMEE, 1000 KILOMETER, TWIXT, OH-WAH-REE, FACTS IN FIVE, FEUDAL, SLEUTH, SUM-UP, TOPOLOGIK, CONTACTIC, PHALANX, SPECTRUM, UMWELTSCHUTZ, CODICOD, ROMBA, HALMA, AVALANCHE, SUPERHIRN. BON VOYAGE.
The "Colditz" game was Dave's.
I asked Dave if he had come across any PATTON reviews. Outside of the ones I already saw, there were only a few short, unflattering ones.
Took the following games: DARK AGES, MUSKET & PIKE, THE MOSCOW CAMPAIGN, FRIGATE, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION and 2 - STARFORCE. Also took 6 copies of the TANK! extension.
To Felicia. Looked at the rules for JET CAPTAIN (by R.A. Hole - I believe). The board wasn't sent but there is a track with spaces on the outside and a map with air routes on the inside. Players move around the outer track by dice throw, winning and losing points. Each time they complete a circuit they move their plane one "check point" along an air route. When a player reaches his destination he wins if he has the most points. If not, he
