SEPTEMBER 1974 - MONDAY 16 259TH DAY - 106 DAYS TO COME

Called Martin Gardner. Told him about John Geiger and LOGI-QUAD. He just wanted the info for his files.

I asked Martin if he knew about THE QUEEN in connection with REVERSI (see 9/14). He couldn't give me any further info. As for REVERSI itself, he said that the best reference was REVERSI AND GO BANG, which is in th 42nd St. library. (Later I looked at NEW MATHEMATICAL DIVERSIONS FROM SCI. AM. and found the reference to THE QUEEN and also a good bibliography.)

He told me of a large book store near Doylestown, Pa., in a barn. [drawn bracket] Gwynedd Valley Book Store [drawn bracket] Gwynedd Valley, Pa. [drawn bracket] (215) 646-0881

He intended to visit it during his last trip, but didn't make it. I suggested going together sometime. He was noncommital. He told me about the fellow who has the largest collection of mechanical puzzles in the world. He also has some games which, Martin hears from a mutual acquaintance, he intends to sell. Martin suggests that I contact him: [drawn bracket] Tom Ransom [drawn bracket] 37 Silver Birch Ave. [drawn bracket] Toronto 13, Canada [drawn bracket] (416) 699-5066

I told Martin about my meeting with Steven Fischer and Gerard Piel. They mentioned to him that they enjoyed meeting me, but no word of another meeting. Their present plans - altho not firm - are to come out with Conway's FOOTBALL in about a year. In the meantime they are looking for ways to protect it, since Conway is showing it to all his colleagues.

Took the rules for two games by Louis DaVia: PRESSURE and COMMAND DECISION.

Felicia's date with O-I had been called off and she tried to contact me to come earlier. She spoke to BB.

BB told me that Pierre Berloquin called during day to get Martin Gardner's number. He'll call again on 9/23. Pierre and Annie will reach N.Y. on 10/14.
