15 SUNDAY - SEPTEMBER 1974 FIFTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST - 258TH DAY - 107 DAYS TO COME

Thought of another idea for TWICE AS HARD. A player can only score if he connects at least two of the line segments on the pc. played. If two different types of lines are connected, the player scores the number of pcs. in each group. If two of the same line are connected, the number in that group is doubled. With 3 or 4 connections, add the different scores. Tried it a number of times myself, and it seems good.

Wen writing to Graeme Levin I said that I had sent him the SLEUTH G.V. that he didn't print. Discovered that it was in G&P #20.

Another rule in TWICE AS HARD. If a player connects only one line, he scores that group minus.

Called Bob Champer and by luck got him in. (He will no longer be able to be reached at the number of 4/30/73.) Talked about WASHINGTON and he suggested "Saratoga" and "Yorktown." I suggested "Trenton." He will call me next weekend to arrange to get together.

Told him what Jim Dunnigan said about the Postal Inspectors looking for him. He told me that he didn't make anything at all from the game company.

The TIMES Magazine section has an article "The Space Age Pinball Machine" which mentioned, among other things, ODYSSEY and PONG.

Called Felicia and told her of my talk with Bob Johnson. Told her that my parents and in-laws might have copies of FOCUS (later found out it was [illegible strikeout] HIGH SPIRITSI gave them, not FOCUS. I'll contact her when I find out and will get as many copies as I can to her next week. She called Western Printing. Tom Mason was busy, but said he'd check and call her back.

Drove downtown with Pierre and BB (who returned after shopping with Annie) and picked up Annie. To Paradise Restaurant where we met Claude and Anne. Claude brought Pierre a copy of MATHEMATICAL PUZZLES by Filipiak. Also a copy of GENIUS BLOCKS. Drove Claude and Anne to 14th St., then downtown for some sight seeing before returning to their hotel. Claude had called before I got back. Called him and spoke about togigh tonight. [Started 10/22]
