8/29 8/27 SEPTEMBER 1974 - FRIDAY 6 249TH DAY - 116 DAYS TO COME

Called Dale (who returned from Montreal late last night and spoke to BB). She bought the following games for me: RAFLE, [illegible strikeout] JEU DES REPORTAGES, ENIGMAKO, AUTEUIL (which is a horse racing game she said looked interesting).

Alan Newman here about noon for lunch and stayed till 5:30. He brought the following:

KLONDIKE - which I borrowed to get repros of the rules & material. ENIGMAKO - I took a quick look, since Dale has it for me. ANTI-MONOPOLY - gave me. (1 token is missing). SUPER STAR GAME - gave me. HARE AND TORTOISE - he brought rules and I got repros. PAYDAY - quite juvenile. Got repros of rules but didn't bother with material. TA KAI - made repros of the rules and the board.

I gave him the following:

SUMMIT - Gave him the duplicate with the wrinkled board - in a different box than the "Cadeaux" version I have. (He mentioned that it was a game he was looking for.) NUMBER FOOTBALL - Gave him duplicate. GAMES WITH PENCIL AND PAPER - He mentioned that he was going to send for it. Gave him one of the repro sets Al Richter gave me. S&T - Gave him repros of my columns #18 thru #36 and

  1. 42 thru #45. He had subscribed for a while but only wanted my column.

LAND BARON - Gave him repros of rules I once made and we got repros of board and some material. THE SIGMA FILE - Got repros of rules and some equip't. THERMOPYLAE - Got repros of rules, which had picture of the board. MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS - Got repros of rules, board, and some equip't.

Gave him as many as he wanted of the catalogs that I had picked up for Gini Scott. Threw away those he didn't want.

Told him the bad news about his ASSEMBLY LINE. Also showed him S&R's ASSEMBLY LINE. He thought that may have been the reason why M.B. [Milton Bradley] refused it. He feels that Dick Harris is very up on what has been done.

I asked about his game. He doesn't think it is great. It has a gimmick like the one in PRIZE PROPERTY. A die has 4 "overtime" spaces and 2 "strike" spaces. Can accumulate "overtime" but a "strike" loses it all. Another gimmick is periodic bidding, closed with ties being eliminated and the next highest winning. The winner has the right to move the number at either end of a spinner. The others can only use the main end. (A GAME idea (UP (Very rough idea.)

(An idea that came from this. In a game with dice move- ment players can buy right to throw extra dice and choose the one they want. GAME idea.)

Aladdin has taken Alan's B-O-C-Q for consideration. A neighbor knows Lynn Pressman of Pressman and arranged a meeting. He brought a GAME, whose name he didn't mention, and FERRET. She was interested in both of them. She also
