30 FRIDAY - AUGUST 1974 242ND DAY - 123 DAYS TO COME
Called Phil Orbanes. Not to the office yet. Left word with secretary that I had heard from Manny Lefkowitz and that I'd like him to call me during the week.
Letter from Pierre Berloquin. Mention of Martin Gardner, 100 JEUX GEOMETRIQUES, etc.; SIDOMINOS; S&T, SCIENCE ET VIE; G&P; TRIPPPLES.
With Felicia and Eileen Gaden to "Holy Land" in Waterbury, Conn. I-S paid for tolls and when I got gas. Supper at Eileen's in Greenwich. Picked up Felicia and then Eileen in Manhattan. Returned Felicia to her apt.
Call from Felicia. Went on a long time about getting tough with Bob Johnson and Hallmark, and if I didn't like it I could get Atwater as my agent. I told her to do what she thought was best. At the end she got very insulting and hung up before I could answer.
Dana told me there was a call from Terry Seymour of M.B. [Milton Bradley]. Not particularly important, but she'll probably call again Tuesday. A man called and didn't leave his mane. Since he knew Dana, it was probably Phil Orbanes. It was soon after we left.
(cont. from 8/31) [9/3]
At our meeting Phil Orbanes asked if he and Marty Kornblum could come and browse in my collection - paying me for my time. I didn't really answer.
Later thinking about it, felt that since he wants to get material to publish I should get a reduced royalty as a "finder's fee."
During day BB got a call from Stan Chess. He is having a party on 9/14. The Bredehorn's will be there, but the others will be young. BB said that we have plans to be out of town, but will try to change out plans so as to make it.
Call from Claude (I had called & spoke to Anne Sunday). Made date for Thurs. HASBRO has accepted Wald's GAME, and have sent him a check for $3,000. They rejected RIP-OFF but will look at another swindle game if ready by the end of October. [Started 9/3]
