20 Tuesday - August 1974
232nd day - 133 days to come
Rcd. [received] the game ROLLER-LAND CHECKERS.
Rcd. letter from Bernie Lane. Claims he couldn't get thru to me and wants me to call him Thursday.
Rcd. NOST-ALGIA (Aug. '74, #172). Phil Cohen gives the rules for Alex Randolph's OFF COURSE - from ESQUIRE. Also two annotated games of LINES OF ACTION. Betza gives rules again and a discussion of COLUMBIA CANNON CHESS (CCC). Also a variation - CCC CHESS.
In a "Publishers Central Bureau" booklet saw ads for there
was a large section of "Dover Books." (Filed in '74 misc.)
Among other things - COIN GAMES AND PUZZLES by Maxey Brooke
which (I believe) is the same as FUN FOR THE MONEY, and

thing about. It may be one that a fellow in California made up and wanted me to look at. Or that might be a different GAME. Tom said he'll send me the rules.
Call from Claude. He went to see "Shirt Poket "Shirtpocket Games"
about WATCH (Thru G&R). They were too tied up in the
things they have to come out with anything new. He met a
Mr. Becker, who used to be with Lakeside (Jerry D'Arcey
dealt with him). Becker seems to have some connection with
Shirtpocket, but he is also an agent, like Wexler. He was
interested in WATCH, but would change the presentation and
the name to DANGER. He wants 50%. Claude is trying to
decide whether to deal with him.
Claude heard from Earl. Made a date for Earl to come for
supper (which Claude has to change). No mention by either of
Hasbro. Also no word yet on RIP-OFF, etc.
[started 8/22]
(cont. from 8/23) [8/23]
There were two copies of their periodical STATIS-PRO which I
took.
Said hello to Al Nofi who came back to do some research for them,
altho he is not working there regularly any more.
In a hurry grabbed the following packaged games: BLITZKRIEG MODULE SYSTEM
(which is S&T #19 in a box - but with some changes in the inserted
material). Duplicates of 1918, THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, GRENADIER,
FRIGATE, & BULL RUN.
At Job Lot bought a duplicate copy of THE WATERGATE SCANDAL (card)
(cont. on 8/16)
