18 SUNDAY - AUGUST 1974 ELEVENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST - 230TH DAY - 135 DAYS TO COME
While recording the info on the Aladdin contract, I realized the implication of the 500,000 figure (see 8/14). Is it a cut off>
Anthony from next door was in with some friends and wanted a game to play. At first was going to loan him MB's [Milton Bradley] 007, since I have a duplicate. Looking at the rules realized that there is a slight resemblance to INTERSECTION, but it has a simultaneous choice of rows and columns, and the scoring is entirely different.
Gave Anthony a copy of DOUBLETAKE to keep.
Read over the rules for FACTS IN FIVE to write a "Gamesview." Didn't get the chance to write it.
(cont. from 8/19) [8/19]
Took one sheet each for FINANCIER, SPY, OIL STRIKE, WORDS TIMES THREE, PAYOFF, and THE GREAT RACES. Looked good. In the last one I would have preferred lines separating the race numbers. Phil said it could be scratched in the plate (when?). Phil will want to get together to discuss THE THIRD REICH in a week or so.
Marty Kornblum mentioned that Manny Lefkowitz (Bob Reiss' partner) had said today that they have to contact Sid Sackson. I said that I would wait until I hear from them.
To S.P.I. Checked with Howie Barasch. Nothing for me.
When at Felicia's picked up the copy of FLYING THE BEAM that Alan Newman got for me. Felicia said she'd like a copy of MACARTHUR for the office.
Rcd. THE FLYING BUFFALO'S FAVORITE MAGAZINE (#19, July-Aug. '74). Announces a new game TIME TRAP. Mentions STARLORD, MOON BASE, NUCLEAR DESTRUCTION, BATTLE PLAN. Rules for a game similar to MASTERMIND - MOO. Among other games mentioned in "What is My Game Worth?" are DOOMSDAY ($1), POLARIS ($1), SHILO (poor condition - $.50)
Bought another letter tray at O'Brien's on 23rd St. for $2.19.
Priced 5x3 index cards - about $4.50 per 1000. On 3rd Ave.,
around 98th St., saw a small store with $2.85 $2.79 per 1000.
At bazaar in Long Beach bought a box of 100 file folders for $2.00. Also several hundred buttons as possible game equip't.
