14 Wednesday - August 1974
226th day - 139 days to come
Rcd. [received] a card from the Bredehorn's. Nothing on games.
Rcd. Aug. [August] TOYS. Ad for TEE UP "A Game of Chance Not Golfing Skill." Ad for CONCENTRIC CHESS/CHECKERS. New lists SHOPPING and BLOCK-OFF.
Call from Felicia, after her conference with Jim Kelso and the
lawyer from Aladdin. They suggested a starting royalty
of 3% but she said 3 1/2% and they agreed. This is for the
first 200,000 sold. (I asked if this is per year - no, total.)
Then 300,000 copies the rate is 4 1/2%. Then to 500,000
copies the rate is 5%. (What happens after 500,000?)
They also have connections with manufacturers in Europe and
Japan. The 5% royalty will be split 2 1/2% each.
They will definitely have TOTALLY-- ready for October. It
will contain a timer and they are aiming at a $6 price.
They will try to have INTERSECTION (which they like very
much) ready for October also.
They promise to do TV advertising, altho they can't get it
ready by this year. They will send Felicia a listing of
their ads for TRIPPPLES. Incidentally, they have bought
TRIPPPLES outright - except for a small royalty.
We will get an advance of $1500 for each of the four games.
They will be put on one contract, which will probably be
sent to Felicia by the end of this week.
Felicia showed them B-O-C-Q and (I believe) they weren't
very impressed. I asked if I should be getting things ready
to show them. Felicia said they are working on the 1975
line now and the, which they have on hand. They won't
be looking for the 76 line for a while.
Among the other things they have, they like SHINGLES,
but it doesn't fir their present production. My
FREE FORM, SPECTRUM, FOREIGN INTRIGUE, and SPACE are
still being considered - and Felicia didn't rush them.
