Rcd. a report on AGOG from Random House, I owe them $2,105.71.
Rcd. letter from Steve Wilson. Enclosed check for $3.20. In his letter mentioned SLEUTH, G&P, ORION, JOTTO, LINES OF ACTION, THE DOMINO BEAD GAME, REVERSI, RACETRACK, PROPERTY, ELEUSIS, SLAM, SWITCH, TWIXT, SOLITAIRE DICE, PATTERNS (II). Also enclosed a game of his own - PENNYROYAL,
Rcd. a letter from Lou Zocchi. Good sales of ALIEN SPACE from my review. Mentions PATTON and MACARTHUR. Also Allan Calhamer. He has come across games like GAMES ON TOLKEIN BATTLES and asks if I'd like review copies.
Rcd. ad from "War Games Unlimited." They had a listing of war games from Conflict, S.P.I, Gamma Two, Balboa Games, Guidon/Lowry, Avalon Hill, Game Designer's Workshop, S.D.C., Zocchi, and Combat Designs. Special plug for Conflict's BAR LEVI. (Made note later to tell Bob Gellman about this.)
To Bob Gellman. Discussed PATTON problem (see 7/30). The rules state that the American's in Bastogne cannot indulge in battle until relieved, which implies that they can't be attacked. Decided not to do anything with the rules. He'll write with explanation to Italy.
He had a game called CITY GAME, based on seeing sights in
Miami. Each player has two taxis and can move either
one the throw of one die. Each player has cards
representing sights he must see. He also has some face
down which the opponent doesn't know. If the opponent passes
one of these it counts for the player. They There is money
which doesn't count in winning, but if a player runs out he
is out of the game. (Bob asked my opion opinion. Too specialized
an appeal - altho there is also a version based on
Washington D.C. Bob felt the same way.)
Bob had lunch sent up.
To Felicia, bringing her lunch. We discussed TOTALLY-- and she admitted that she really didn't know much about it. I'll make another set and we'll play it sometime.
She seemed more enthused about Aladdin. I looked at three of Alan Newman's games:
B-O-C-Q:- This is a series of 4 games. The first two are played on the board [drawing of board] as shown. The other two have transparent overlays that go on top of the board. There are four sets of cubical pcs. in 4 different colors. The faces have spots on them from 1 to 6. They also have arrows, each face a cube having the same arrows.
BRACKET:- (Don't remember how many can play.) [drawing of squares with arrows]
