MAY 1974 - SUNDAY 19
FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER - 139TH DAY - 226 DAYS TO COME

At two bazaars bought a lot of buttons for game markers;
bought a shopping bag full of strung black beads for $3;
a box of curlers in different sizes and colors for $3.50; 2 dozen
yellow pencils for $1.00; a normal pencil for $1; and a long string
of "belting" in gold & white - 2 different shapes - plastic. Dana bought 75 red plastic containers at 2¢ each (I think). He let me have 5 of them
and I used one for the discs in the HEX MATCH game.

Wrote the rules for NO WAY and BB typed them.

and U JOINT. (Took a folder.)
The Strauses. Had the R.G.I. games including HOLIDAY,
PATTON, and MACARTHUR.
They had WORDMATE. There is a window showing 12 letters, and
all can be changed to any letter, an * and or a blank. Among the
games are WORDMATE which is similar to HANGMAN. And PYRAMID -
two letters - a vowel and a consonant are set, then players in
turn add a letter, rearranging as desired. And UNSCRAMBLE - each
player uses up to six letters to set up a scrambled word and
first to guess each other's wins. And BLIND-SPELL - the dials
are set blindly and one player tries to use the letters in
words, turning them to blank as they are used - scoring for
the less letters not used.
Pager Industries. This seems to be the same as "The Puzzle
Factory". Said hello to Jerry Green and Pat, but they were busy.
The games on display : - CHARADE CROSSWORDS, WORD BINGO, TOSS WORDS, and THE DIC-TION-ARY GAME.
Mag-Nif. Took a sheet of "Mag-Nif News". Among others,
there is WOODN'T TAC TOE which can be played conventionally
or in a "more sophisticated version". Also shows TURNABOUT.
Met Herb Hochstetter who was also looking. He said he had a
GAME idea he'll call me about.
Skor-<or. Took a catalog and also a "Sears" folder of "Skor-Mor"
games. Also took the rules for PRIME TIME. Didn't get a
chance to talk to Al Stack.
John N. Hansen. Nothing new. They have LAND BARON, the sex games, and BOTTOMS UP.
4 Generations. Went back to talk to Benton, who had been busy before.
He'll send me review copies of UNGAMEand THERMOPYLAE. Took a catalog to give to Phil Orbanes.
Itemation. Spoke to elder Polumbaum and he said he would send me review copies of ENERGY CRISIS GAME and <u<KUNG FU - a 5 dice gambling game which I noticed. Then Douglas Polumbaum said that I was missing the best game - JUMBLE. He gave me his card and asked me to call him. Took an ad sheet.
