MAY 1974 - WEDNESDAY 15
135TH DAY - 230 DAYS TO COME

Sent check for $37.50 to Bob Champer for MACARTHUR advance - with following note: "R.G.I. came through with an advance of only $150. I'll try to get the other $50, but it won't be easy. Of course in the long run it doesn't matter. Please let me know when this reaches you. Regards."

No check yet from 3M. Called Felicia to tell him her.

Decided that NO WAY was not good enough as is. Made a new layout with more circles and at least 5 lines to each - using crossovers to accomplish this. Trying out a third number that can only be used a set number of times. Seems that three times will do it - although I only went over about 5 of the 60 possibilities.

Finished coloring in the squares for the German SPECTRUM board.

space is wild. GIANT TIC TAC TOE - large grid. 2 play with x's and o's and score for each line of 3 forms, until field is filled. ODDS & EVENS - p&p with 3x3 and 4x4 fields on the sheet. One player is "odd" the other "even." 2 play and each in turn puts a 1 or a 2 in any empty space. When a line is completed the [illegible strikeout] point depends on the parity. CROSSWORDS - 6x6 grid. Place words in turn, crossword fashion. One point for each letter in completed word. (Rough idea.) TRIANGLES and DIAMONDS, two variations of BOXES. GUESS CHESS - Each player puts writes the pcs. [pieces] of a CHESS set on a sheet showing the chessboard. Players in turn guess a space. If there is a piece there they guess again. Win by guessing guessing the space with the king. (Mentioned that this could be improved greatly.) (Pads - $1.00 & $2.00. Wite-offs - $1.50. Wall games - $6.00.)
- Pacific Games. COLUMBUS WAS WRONG was the only thing I didn't know (see 11/27/73). The fellow took took my card and said he'd send me a catalog.
- Gameophiles. Back and spoke to Wibel about which of the games he'll send me for review:- COLORATION, FLIP & FLOP, FRONT PAGE. Told him that I already had SYNTACTICS.
- Oblisk. Spoke to Jesse Hurley and took his card. He rcd. [received] my letter on ZODIAC STAR CHESS and apologized for no answering it. He will send me a glossy of it. The price is $9.95 plus $1.00 p&h. Took a sheet with his items (and one for Phil). New are: EXORCISM - similar to PARCHISI but a "demon" pc. [piece] is also moved and can make captures. Cards are also involved which allow you to move an opponents pc. [piece] if you don't get caught - and other things. (Rough idea.) GLIFIK - this is SCRABBLE with the addition of tiles with pictures of various objects which are used in combination with other tiles. One shows an "Ox" or it can be taken as a "Steer."
