14 TUESDAY - MAY 1974
134TH DAY - 231 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. May PLAYTHINGS. Article says that 20 British firms will
be showing games, etc. at the Stationary Show. Another that
3M will "introduce" a line of Paper Games there.
Showcase shows LEXIDATA, KING OIL, and BLOCK-OFF.
American Publishing has be appointed Nancy Rosen, formerly of
Urban Systems, as Sales Manager of Toy Division.

Called Martin Gardner to get the missing line on POLYMERASE
(see 5/8). Told him that I'd give call him if there is anything
interesting at the Stationary Show.
Martin hasn't been paid yet for a day's consultation for Xerox
that he billed some time ago. If he doesn't get it soon he won't
do anything further until it comes.

Call from Felicia. All the things with Schaper came back today. No
letter. SPACE (SPACE BOXES) came back very well packed.
Someone in sales from Owens-Illinois liked Mike Riley's CAM SHAFT
and O.K. JOE'S and wants here [her?] not to show them to anyone else.
Yesterday Felicia mentioned that she might place ZIGGURAT, but
won't tell me with whom. She said that Denis Ladouceur
claims to have fixed the problem we found.

Spent all day catching up on game diary.

It can be used to form B "ox" or [illegible strikeout] AU "steer" with the
proper letter tiles. It also can be used as an "o" or an "s" - the
first letter of the word. SHUSS BOOM - seems to be similar
to THE RACE TRACK GAME with a skiing theme. If you run off the
course or on step on an ice slick you throw dice to see what
happens (rough idea.). When they are in production he will send
me copies and glossies altho he doesn't expect me to review EXORCISM.
He is thinking of coming out with a simplified version of
ZODIAC STAR CHESS which he will call ECLIPSE. It will be for
from 2 to 4 players. // Jesse asked in general about selling to a large co.
- Playwrite, The game is EXORCISM (again!). Spoke to Larry Kline
(who I think I once met - but who didn't remember our meeting).
He is the inventor of NUMBLE and of WALL STREET altho he doesn't
know with which co. it is - he gets royalties third hand. He will
send glossy and price list. I'm to check Weds. about getting a copy.
- 3M. Back again and Kathy said that Keith won't be in today. Date
for Weds. at 11 a.m.
- Gameophiles. There again to ask for glossies and list prices.
Spoke to John Flagg who is the inventor of SYNTACTICS and
who called me last year. He is now working with Gameophiles
and he says his game is doing great. The list price is twice
that on the price list I have - for all the games.
- Game Capers. Carl Eisenberg flagged me down as I passed.
