MAY 1974 - THURSDAY 9
129TH DAY - 236 DAYS TO COME
Started drawing up diagrams for the games to show
to Fabio Coen next Monday. (I didn't name five of
them until Saturday, fo but for convenience I'll use the
names now.) Drew up SPRINGER and played with BB using
the small wood squares instead of coloring in the spaces. First
to touch all four edges wins. It played quite well and I
made a few changes and completed the drawing.
Drew up MONDRIAN and started MIRO.
Called Claude to tell him that I had bought the 9/73
SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. We discussed a farewell party for Earl
and after a call to Issie Rothman and another call to
Claude it was set for 5/17 at Issie's.

This is his company - he is president - and he handles a line
of games & puzzles put out by "Target Abroad, Ltd." which
is a subsidiary of the Japanese "Tenyo Co., Ltd." Took
sheets: [illegible strikeout] "Piet Hein Collection" - ROULETTE,
SOLITAIRE, KALAHA, TOWER, SOMA, CHINESE CHECKERS,
CON-TAC-TIX (HEX), MORRA, POLYTAIRE, PYRAMYSTERY,
TRIPLE CROSS, QRAZY QUBE, NIMBI, L-GAME (not all of these
are by Hein, of course), ELECTRO - two different puzzles
(No. 1 & 2) with wire and cords. "Mental Game" - a series of
6 manipulative puzzles, "Solid Puzzles" - a series of 4.
BEAT THE COMPUTER - a series of 9 puzzles.
Carl said that the company wants more puzzles for the
ELECTRO series and pays royalties. I said that I'd need
copies of the two they have already as a guide. He said to
pick them up Weds. I asked for other types of puzzles and
he said he'd look at those. I'll bring EVEN WORSE Weds.
He gave me his business card and his home card:
[bracket drawn] Carl J. Eisenberg
[bracket drawn] 102-25 67th Drive (275-9772)
[bracket drawn] Forest Hills, New York 11375
He asked me not to say anything to Phil Orbanes.
- Intellect Games. Spoke to Steve Brodie and Roland Jarvis -
the chairman. They showed me HARE AND TORTOISE. Each player
has a certain number of "carrots." Move by expanding carrots -
1 for 1 space, 3 for 2 spaces, 6 for 3 spaces, etc. Get new
carrots by moving backwards - 10 per space. (Very rough idea.)
ELECTION seems as if it offers a lot of choice.
I told them about my problems about placing the "Traffic
Jams" in CABBIE. Roland said that what was done was a com-
promise, but not a very good one. I mentioned that some of
the cards from my copy of STOCKBROKER were damaged. Arranged
to pick up the cards from a set they have on display on Weds.
Steve will bring me HARE AND TORTOISE and ELECTION when ready.
