122ND DAY - 243 DAYS TO COME

Finished the boards for HEX-MATCH and INTERSECTION.
Thinking of some variations for HEX-MATCH: 1) Require
3 fo matches for a play and 5 for an extra turn, after two
pcs. have been placed. 2) Require one more match that the
number of pcs. played against for a play and two more for an
extra turn. (Later decided that neither would be any good.)

Called Met Claude to confirm date toni at book store on
Chambers St. Before this bought 100 2 5/16" x 3 5/8" glassine
envelopes ($.90) and 100 1/2" x 4 1/4" ($1.00),
Gave Claude a check for $19.57 for EXECUTIVE DECISION.
Claude picked up the 10/73 and 12/73 SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN's
for me at 75¢ each. Gave them to me, paid him.

At Job Lot saw POLISH DOMINOES. Part of the rules were visible
by they didn't give me the whole story. Apparently the number
of dots on a pc. are its scoring value. Also generally a
player has to take a pc. of the number thrown by apparently
there is a case when he doesn't have to. (95¢, but didn't buy.)

Bought a copy of THE MOB (at Job Lot) for $1.50.
N.Y.G.A. meeting at Earl's. Issy Rothman and Bob Abbott there.
Noone was able to reach Wald.
We did Bob's ELEUSIS again. Claude did the rule and each of
the rest of us were dealt 10 cards. 48 were dealt to the stock
and the rest (of the two decks) eliminated from the game. If
a player played correctly he got another card, if incorrect - no card.
For correct play of 2 together - 3 cards; 3 together - 5 cards; 4 to-
gether - 7 cards. If a player believes that all of his cards are un-
playable he shows them to "god." If he is right he receives that
many cards from "god." If wrong he is out of the game. A player
who thinks he knows the rule can, after playing, become a
"wizard." He scores twice the number of cards in his hand plus
the number in the stock. His cards go to the bottom of the stock.
He now answers for "God" as long as he is correct. If wrong he
gets a point penalty, but stays in the game. When stock is
gone each player scores the number of cards he holds. What
"god" scores and a lot of other points are still not work out.
Played 4 hand HEX-MATCH with me watching. Issy went out
3 of the 4 times and won easily. Claude wanted to try
the partnership version. Bob left and I played with Earl
as a partner. When one member of a team goes out his part-
ner's pcs. are counted against the team. Played two rounds and
came up with a tie.

Rcd. a letter from Eric Nielsen with his game MAZE, the
new name for 2nd CHESS.

Started thinking of a revision of NO WAY to make it suit-
able for the 3M p&p games. Put numbers - from 1 to 6 -
on the lines, instead of the intersections. Player chooses
any two different numbers and these lines are for-
