28 SUNDAY - APRIL 1974
SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER - 118TH DAY - 247 DAYS TO COME
TIMES Magazine section had a feature on BACKGAMMON. Mentioned Bob Reiss and XAVIERA'S GAME. (Filed in '74 Misc).
At bazaars picked up the following : - CRIBBAGE board, 12 plastic childre's blocks, 60 small plastic trucks. Also bought an adjustable bit for drilling holes up to 3".
Call from Claude. Set up a tentative NYGA meeting at Earl's for coming Thursday. Tried to call Earl but no answer.
(cont. from 5/3) [5/20]
He told me, when I asked, that they did THE SIGMA FILE and
THE LONDON GAME. He is interested in GAMEs to publish, and also to license on the continent. We agreed that it is best
that I work through Graeme Levin. I said that it couldn't be
anything that is being done in the U.S. since those are Felicia's
all the way. He said the "theme" games are what is wanted in
England. Strategy games are bigger in Germany. European
manufacturers in general feel that they have to water down a game in order to have it done in the U.S.
During the day someone (who I can't remember who) mentioned that someone, but not Gini Scott, was picking up review copies for SIMULATIONS/GAMING/NEWS.
Spoke to Claude. Told him about G & R and WATCH, but told him not to do anything about it until I am notified by them. He said that they speak to him about it every time he stops by. He'll bring them a copy of WATCH, but make it look coincidental.
Wald has contacted Claude and would like to set up a game evening.
Nothing definite settled.
[Started 5/20]

Looked for my SKYSCRAPERS model as a sample for the new one. Realized that it is still at 3M.
Came up with an idea for getting over the corner to corner race problem in SPRINGER. Put small triangles at the outside corners, but not at the 4 corners of the field. The ones at the centers of each side are darkened. To win must reach darkened triangles on at least 2 sides.
Made repros of the NO WAY rules and two more of the sheets, at Boston Road.
Called Dick Landman at Carter-Hall. Not in. Said I'd call again on Thurs.
