APRIL 1974 - SATURDAY 27
117TH DAY - 248 DAYS TO COME

BB typed the letter to Graeme Levin and I mailed it at the post office.

At the Horn's met a fellow who works for Jules Cooper at Ideal. He told me that after they took THE BOSS from Marvin Glass they had to work on it for six months before it was even playable.

Call from Jerry Brown. Gave him Don Miller's address to subscribe to G&P. Gave him Tom Atwater's address - although yesterday we discussed that W.C. Fields might not mean too much in Europe. Jerry has another 20 GAMES [illegible strikeout] in preparation and he will wait to show these to Tom. He will come here in about two weeks to see my collection, and will show me the games then. Yesterday I mentioned that eventually I want my game collection to end up at a university. He knows some one with authority at the "University of Minnesota" (I believe) and wanted to talk to him at once. I suggested waiting until he saw it himself.

Call from Tom Atwater. He is at "Stationary Show" and is going to a date with Richard Benton. Made date to meet at Press Room tomorrow at 3. And probably he'll come here Thurs. [Thursday] morning.

Call from Al Richter. He is working on DON'T BLOW A FUSE again. I told him I'd have Earl call him before leaving for Greece. Made date to go there 6/1.

Call from Jerry D'Arcey. He couldn't make it to N.Y. for Stationary Show.

He asked me about the name SPECULATION and I told him that it had been used. Also that there is SPECULATE in England. He'll also put out TOP DOG and FILLERUP.
MONOLITH was turned down by Classic. Now it is being considered by 3M. (Who submitted it?) Jerry said that he heard that 3M is going in for mass marketing - and I noticed that the sheet for EVENTS and CONTIGO said "Suggested List Price - $10.95.
SWEEP is just about ready to go with Lakeside. Unfortunately Jerry has had to sell most of his interest in it.
He hears from all sides that business is bad. For instance "Benko- Goldfarb" tell him that while a company like M.B. [Milton Bradley] used to take 20 things for consideration, they now only take 6.
Jerry said that he doesn't trust M.B. [Milton Bradley] anymore. Frank Thibault showed them a game TACTICS - which Jerry says he showed me, but I can't find any reference to it - and then M.B. [Milton Bradley] came out with CONNECT FOUR, which is just about the same. I told Jerry that the game wasn't developed "in house," as he thought but
