20 SATURDAY - APRIL 1974
110TH DAY - 255 DAYS TO COME

Rcd. [received] a package from Haar Hoolim with the boards for TOPOLOGIK, CONTACTIC - with the playing pcs. [pieces], and SPECTRUM with a set of 20 cards.

Wrote the S&T column - #44: ALIEN SPACE, NAVAL GAME, 5-5, and THREE PLAYER CHESS.

Realized that I hadn't included credits in the rules I wrote up for MACARTHUR.

his color. He places two in each space and can divide them as he pleases, but a smaller must be on top of a larger. A move turn consists of moving one space orthogonally to an empty space - which ends the turn - or onto a pc. [piece] that is the same size or larger, if the move is onto another p belonging to either player. The player may, if he wishes, continue moving in the same manner. A pc. [piece] on top blocks the pcs. [pieces] below from moving. Object is to build the six pcs. [pieces] in proper order in the matching colored space. In moving across players may not move into the goal spaces (3 on each side) parallel to the direction of their movement.
The three of us played and Felicia and I noticed that it is very easy for the game to get bogged down with mutual blocking. She told him to take it back to work on some more. [illegible strikeout] I thought of the idea of each player having a number of "force" cards which could force the opponent to move a specified piece. After Denis left I told Felicia that I thought I could solve the problem. She said that she is sure that Denis can come up with something.
Felicia mentioned that when she showed Denis LIFE SAVER puzzle and another that I haven't seen - COUGH DROP - to Owens-Illinois they liked them so much that they suggested - since they felt that they weren't for O.-I. - that she show them to American Publishing and gave her the contact.
After Denis left Felicia showed me Steve Radash's RUN A ROUND. there is an 18x18 field that looks very much like VECTOR, 2 to four play. Each has a set of number cards - from 1 to 10 - which correspond with numbered spaces on the board. These are shuffled and the player must reach the numbers in the order the cards are turned. Movement is by throw of one (I believe) die - orthogonal with turns allowed except that no space can be returned to. Various spaces when landed on allow things like moving self, or opponent, or switching, or giving an opponent one of your destination cards, etc. Some of these are on the board itself and others are on cards that the board directs drawing (Fairly complete idea.)
Incidentally, I mentioned to Denis that ZIGGURAT was somewhat similar
